So, would you? I was 5 or 6 cars back at a light and the lead car in the right lane took off, then stopped and wasn't moving. Clearly something went wrong but 10 horns started going off and I saw him stop abruptly so I knew something was up. I hate breaking down more than anyone else, and I'm a car guy so its not gonna freak me the fuck out that my cars having a problem. Traffic stopped staring at this guy mid intersection stopped, so I took it upon myself to risk a ticket and throw my lights on(I drive an old cop charger still equipped) and went around everyone and pulled up behind him to get traffic to move the fuck on. What a rush that was to "feel" like a cop doing something good. All these people staring at me and shit - I just got out and helped him push his car over to the side. Got back in my car and hit the sirens to get back into traffic and on I went. People are so inconsiderate - one 60 year old man isn't gonna push an SUV. I didn't want to get a ticket for impersonating a police officer with the lights but you know - it got traffic flowing and I'm sure he'd understand. It was an uphill so you saw the my lights early and had time to get over. Maybe its just me but I pull over to help anyone who looks to be having car issues - flats, no starts. We all need help with things in life and car's are NOT the average persons strong point.
Nothing wrong with helping if you are literally behind the driver or walking nearby. Otherwise, a small traffic jam can ensue which= easily angered drivers. The latter is what happened in your case and it's sad that you who was 6 cars down actually helped this man while others did nothing. Good for you for helping! If some people were less like douchebags and actually notice something wrong and help if they are literally right there (person behind or even 2 cars behind this man) then it wouldn't of gotten to the point where so many people were honking.
I do it at probably a..30/70 ratio Most the time someone else is already helping/pushing If it's a girl 100% of the time. If there's a hill I'll hop out and help cause id hate to be stuck and need to push a car up a incline. Bleh. If they're like 40ft from a gas station I won't stop. Idk. Just thinking of instances where I've reacted to seeing this situation.. Big vans are a no go for me cause I'm skinny and ain't about to make myself look like a bitch intentionally. Another nice thing is to offer the person to go buy gas for em and fill a gas can
I definitely wouldn't mind helping someone with car trouble. Although last year, there were a car full of men, and one lady standing in front of the truck with the hood open in the cold. Either they were all handicapped or just lazy mfers, but I wan't gonna go near them. The crazy things I see in Memphis.
i did it once but ended up waiting like 2 hours with the guy for triple a because he wouldn't stop flipping out id still help if the person was in a bad spot ie. intersection but if they are just along side the road fairly safe i wouldnt
Yes. I have helped push strangers before and I have also boosted random folks several times as it's very common for our car batteries to freeze over in the winter.
Definitely! One time I got into an accident, and while waiting for a tow truck I helped a man across the street. He ran out of gas and was leaking oil, helped him push it to the side. He even offered money, but I declined it. I felt somehow taking the money would make what I did feel wrong, helping him felt better! Sent from my SGH-I337M using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Lol no. If you're a fellow racer at the track of course, but on the street nope. Call me a dick. I would never expect a stranger to help me if I had car problems nor would I trust them really.
If it's a girl yeah. If it's a dude depends on what time of day and how many people are around. Sucks to break down, but as a small female, I'm not going to put myself in harm's way either.
Or perhaps she knew how to fix the problem and they didn't have a clue. Not all dudes are good with cars, and not all women are bad.
