I think this every time I pass a Masonic lodge on my way to beach side. Would you? Why or why not? I know some of you are curious. Why not peruse greater knowledge if it is truly what they hold or is it simply a group of old people giving tribute with respect to the Order and doing dated rituals with no progression? It seems like you cannot deny how many important people in history we Masons or of other Orders. I'm curious enough to even consider joining. This is however a blind impulsive ambition with absolutely no research and a statement I could easily retract tomorrow. It's not something I really have an ambition for, just and extreme curiosity and consideration of a chance to be a step toward higher knowledge.
My dad is a mason. He loves it. Greater knowledge, stronger bonds and connections, and honestly, he changed. Less drinking, better temper, more happy. IMO, it wouldn't be bad.
Frat no because I don't want to do all the bitch stuff and I'm not really a teamplayer Secret Society maybe...I think I got like an invitation to join one once...IDK I just realized there is a lodge when I drive on my way to a buddies house.
the bitch stuff only happens in movies aka white frats... there are other frats such as the divine nine that take no part in degrading their pledges, their focus is to transform men into gods... think about the movie 300 and other training such as military... i hate when people think that ALL frats make you do dumb shit like lick the toilet or run around campus naked, thats stupid as there is no lesson learned in that

Lol
I am in a fraternity at UNCW and we are anti hazing no hazing goes on what so ever and we are the DJs and surfers and skateboarders, everyone's chill, we have the black light parties and all that crazy shit... yet we also hold events to help the city or campus as well, its pretty damn chill... Not all frats are the stereotypical is all I am saying i guess...
Hell no Frats are whack. I mean it's a blast to go party there 2-3 times a year but I couldn't imagine living in such a place. At least the frats that I have been introduced to
The Mason lodges you see arent the kind that the Founding Fathers were in. They were very high ranking, and you only go through the first few degrees in what you might call the corner store lodges
nope, personally I don't know why anyone would. First there is initiation, you have to do something stupid, embarrassing, or dangerous to get in. Second you make these "friends" that once you leave the university and hit the real world would cut your throat to save theirs. people say oh you make friends for life but that is simply not true. The only good that comes from them is the preparation for the popularity contest that is part of every day life.
The college type frats are a bunch of bullshit. People trying to join get hazed..especially the ones that are definately NOT getting 'in' the frat. The frat party houses I've seen were all modified to have a big open dancefloor downstairs with a keg bar nearby....and the extremely private upstairs area is basically a rape room, from what I've heard. Plus they all conform to each other~ same clothes, same music..etc A secret society is somewhat more appropriate but I'll never be the type to qualify
The Lodges you see every day are the Blue Lodges. You must belong to a Blue Lodge to move up in the Masons. Our Founding Fathers all belonged to a Blue Lodge and not neccessarily to any other such as the York Rite or Scottish Rite.
