Would you give up alcohol for [a period of time] so that the result would hopefully be legalization of marijuana. The point of this boycott is to show the people who benifit from others consuming alcohol [mainly the goverment] that this many people beleave marijuana should be legal and just imagine the money you could have profitted from the taxation of the marijuana sales. This is just something I remember McKenna on marijuana radio said at some point that I would like to see how many other people would do it. Of course modifications can be made but I just wanna know what people think?
probably not. i shouldn't have to give up freedoms in exchange for other freedoms. i should be free to drink, smoke weed, or shoot up heroin if i choose to do so from the start. thats just me though.
I hardly drink anyway. I don't think that alcohol companies would really even notice that much. It would possibly hurt small local companies but most of the big alcohol companies are so globalized that any boycott here would just be offset by lowering production and increasing advertising elsewhere.
most definitely. i pretty much never drink. the only time i really will is when theres no bud around or someone hosting a party doesn't allow smoking (which is extremely rare ha). theres really nothing appealing about getting nauseous, acting like a dumbass, or blacking out.
Rarely drink anyway so definately would support it but you know that won't happen. There is no way the alcohol lobbyist would let that type of thing even come to pass.
Seriously the issue of drugs shouldn't be about health but freedom and liberty. Health should be a personal issue, not a issue that if you ignore you deserve to rot in prison for
ha i notice a lot of people said they don't really drink anyway. im a pretty heavy drinker...not an alcoholic really but i do like my beer. i love mj though and i would totally participate. like someone above me said though i highly doubt it would do much good.
yeah i was just wondering how many people would do it, to prove something... But it would have to be people who do drink a lot... because if like everyone just boycotted alcohol for a period of time to put a dent in that industry to say "Hey! Marijuana is Legit! it's healthy and dosn't cause as much social angst that alcohol does... lets make it LEGAL!!!" I dont know but i strongly believe that marijuana should be completally legal... actually all drugs should be and illegal acts committed under infulences are what you get punished for... i was blazed when i wrote this last night but it sounded legit on the radio show. Who here also listens to Marijuana Radio? I Will do anything for this cause!!! MARIJUANA SHOULD BE LEGAL!!!
I have to agree. Giving up one freedom for another is NOT a solution. Case in point: the Patriot Act and other laws that infringe on our freedoms in the name of security. It's an interesting idea, to make a point, but I don't think it's really going to work. What I think needs to happen is that everybody who is eligible to vote needs to register and vote, especially in the states where marijuana laws are on the ballot this November. There are fewer young people (18-25 year olds) in this nation registered to vote/voting than any other age group, and most of the "legalizers" are in this age-group or one above. The age group with the most say in this nation (as far as voting statistics go) are the elderly, which means that they are deciding the laws in this country (which isn't bad, but it's not ideal...we should all have a say in the laws of our country, not forfeit them b/c we don't care). Okay, I'll step off my soapbox now.
I rarely drink anyway, so I'd be totally down for this. If there was a way we could organize it, and get it mainstream, this could make an impact.
Without question. Booze in moderation, still is just not good for me. I never looked back. Weed helps me sleep. Does not interfere with my athletic training. Does not make me feel like crap. Ready and eager to work the next day. I have never wanted to drive while on it. Ever. Booze makes people monsters. Weed makes monsters good people.
