Would this work?

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by final824, Oct 27, 2012.

  1. Would taking a shot of vodka at 21% or 42 proof and add weed to it and let it sit for a while then drinking it be a viable source of extracting the thc?

  2. I don't believe so. :smoking:

  3. I think it may be more complex than that but search how to make "green dragon."

  4. it would probably be a waste of the weed. the alcohol content makes a big difference. i've soaked ground herb in everclear for a week, shaking it up a few times a day, (8grams to about 4 fl oz) and that stuff was pretty strong. you could be quite happy with two milliliters in cup of juice or something. using vodka, you might be better doing a heated extraction but that's going to stink up your house real bad. or, you could just let it sit for a couple weeks. the advantage of using vodka is that it's not too strong to drip the finished tincture under your tongue, which is a better method than swallowing imho. of course, you can drip the everclear tincture under your tongue but be warned, that shit's going to burn.

Could you use a lot of ground shake to make this so if it doesnt turn out well for me i wont be out good herb?

  6. i suppose so. i guess it depends on what you mean by "a lot", how strong the shake is, how high the alcohol content is and how long you soak it. i save my vaped remains and make golden dragon (using everclear) and that works really well for me. i started doing it that way in the first place because i was worried about wasting my stuff on an experiment. it worked well the first time and i've just always done it the same way since.

i'd hate for you to waste your stuff based on anything i say, but i think your best bet (if you're determined to try a tincture) is to grind your stuff as fine as you can, get the highest alcohol concentration you can (a pint of everclear is like ten bucks) and let it soak for as long as you handle waiting. i use a mason jar. you want something with a good seal so you can shake it up every now and then. if you let it sit for a month, it might not matter that your shake isn't super strong.

If you soak it too long do you run the risk of the chlorophyll seeping out like in canabutter when you cook too long.

  8. uh oh. say what? dude, i don't know. i didn't know that was a thing. hopefully, someone else will answer that for the both of us.

  9. Dude, you have to follow a recipe. You can't just throw nugs in a bottle of champagne and have chamnugs instantaneously. It takes atleast two weeks I think.

  10. lol. i just realized that i'm sitting here drinking a chlorophyl tea. i put a teaspoon of concentrated chlorophyl in a big glass of ice water once a day for health (not sure it actually does anything for me, i just like it). i guess i'm not that worried about chlorophyl.

  11. Yes it would ! no matter what the concentration, THC dissoves into alcohol, so if you let it sit long enough (and in the dark) it would infuse

  12. tree's right, but it's not complicated at all. i like to do cold extraction because waiting is not a problem for me and i don't like stinking up my house. if you google "green dragon", you'll find a lot of step-by-step guides out there. if you do heat extraction, just be careful about having everclear around a heat source.

  13. Just roll a blunt and smoke it. Problem solved.
