I thought that incandescent bulbs were no good. Don´t you have to have a fluorescent tube at least?? But I only grow outdoors.
They will die with a normal light bulb. You wanna get some CFL's, i can see your clearly not thinking about anything involving hps so just go grab a few 'Energy saver light bulbs' and get em above it, for now itleast they will survive. Crank the bulb down to 3 inches above the plants. If you want anything substantial to survive your gonna have to itleast get an envirolight or something. I have 2 105 watt CFls, they cost me £25 each but you will get 20K lumens and should take a plant all the way to Harvest. The lights can be bought in several colour temperatures. You want 6400K for veg'ing and 2700K for flowering. Under these CFL's you need to maximise the light you've got to work with, so you're gonna wanna LST when it gets to that stage.
