  1. I was driving home yesterday and i noticed a construction barrel with some tinfoil on it. I see the barrels everyday, but the tinfoil on it made me think about growing weed. Talk about a light bulb moment.

Those barrels have got to be at LEAST 3 feet tall and near 2 ft wide. PERFECT for a stealth grow. You could grow outside and when you want to hide it, throw the barrel on top. It could be a very stealthy growbox for an indoor grow as well.

they are easy to find, very common (not suspicious), most of them have removable bases, if any base at all.

It would take some engineering to put a light in there and exhaust fan. But it wouldnt be more difficult than a subwoofer box. I currently am doing some "research" on the exact dimensions of these barrels.

    What do you think?

  2. I dont know about stealth... I mean, not everybody has one in their home. Usually with shit like that people ask questions. "Where'd you get it?" - "I stole it." then they start to play with it. You want something that really fits in when it comes to stealth. Something that when someone is just glacing around it looks like the rest of the room's decor.

Other than that, yeah it could probably work as a growbox.

  3. You are correct sir. I was trying to think of something that could prevent people from playing with it. Cause they are extremely common, but not for something inside a house. I would prolly tell people that it was broken, or cracked, and not to mess with it, cuz it could fall apart. maybe that would work without raising any questions? I wouldnt mess with anybody's stuff if they told me it was broken. But some folks are assholes, i guess!

  4. are you talking about an oil drum? cause an oil drum in a workshop doesnt look out of place... hell i have about 6...

  5. That's perfect too! I was talking about the orange & white construction barrels. They usually use them for Highway stuff. They are about the same size as an oil drum.

  6. How about a big garbage bucket

  7. Look at Walmart or Kmart sporting goods dept.

What your lookin for is a gun safe. the least expensive one is about 90.00.

it has double locks and when in the closet looks like ....a gun safe.

I have three CF soft bulbs for veg mo0unted on a 9.00 bathroom fixture.

for Flowering I have two 70 watt HPS lights from home depot....which i gutteed and mounted the whole deal in the top of the cabinet..

the ventiltion system is a 250 cfm computer fan mounted in the top of the box.

when Flowering I also have a 6" 12 volt inrterior car (from walmart 10.00) fan that is on when the HPS are on.

two timers and 12 volt adapter for the fans and bada bing.

it cost about 3.00 a month to run on electricity, the plants can grow up to 45" tall and it works great.

the whoile deal cost 250.00 to build and it worked so good a friend bought it for 400.00.....only problem now is I hve to build another one.....

  8. they are plastic and may glow if there is a light inside. which would be kind of cool but not very stealthy.

  9. Yeah i think a black garbage can would work best, some of them are pretty big.

  10. It should work fine for one plant at a time, only things you really have to worry about would be ventilation, light shining outside of the barrell, access, and plant size. You dont want the top of your plant touching the light source you're using. You can more than likely set it up scrog style. Just cut 2x2 chicken wire in a circle with the same dimensions of the barrell. That should take care of the height problem. Now light shining on the outside of the barrell could be solved by either painting the outside black, two coats should do it or sticker slapping the crap out of it. Sticker slapping could be a good idea anyway to make the barrell look like...well like its not something shady. For ventilation you could get two really small fans, cut out spots on the back of the barrell where you can prop them securely and have one pushing air in and one pushing air out. Last but not least access. You dont want to have to reach to the bottom of a large barrell everytime you want to examine or feed your plant, if you go scrog it would be really hard to get it out and even if you dident do scrog when it gets big it would be a issue getting it out of that deep barrell. You can however cut out a nice sized square near the back of the barrell maybe 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 feet or even just 1 x 1 feet. That way even though you cant take the plant out thru the square hole you can at least get to the bottom and middle of the plant if you need to prune, water, feed, etc. And by sticker slapping the outside first and then cutting out the hole you can camaflauge the hole nicely. You might be able to cut the hole so that its more like a little swinging door, leave on side attached to the barrel, just make sure that when you close the hole up its closed securely because you dont want light leaking out. Ummm anything else?...oh yeah try to paint the entire inside with flat ultra white paint so you get some good reflection going on. You could probly get away with using either a low watt MH for vegging and a low watt HPS for flowering or you can set up some compact fluoros maybe 100watts worth, use blue spectrum compact fluros for vegging and red spectrum compact fluros for flowering. That should be it, good luck with your grow, if you set it up right it could be a pretty sweet deal.
