Would it be smart to own an arcade?

  1. Ive always wished there was an arcade in my town and i figured if i ever got enough money i would open one. But with online gaming and consoles i dont think it would be a smart move.
If i ever did open an arcade what could i do to make it more appealing than going home and playing your Xbox or whatever you play?
I live in a small hic town where the only place teens can hang out is the Roller Barn its a shitty lil roller skating ring that plays the most god awful music serves terrible food and closes at 11 pm its mainly for tweens but theres no where else to go and hang out. I figure that it would be more appealing to older teens to hang out in an arcade than under the bridge(yes kids in my town hang out under bridges) or the roller barn.

  2. The only arcades that function are along populated walkways that are frequented by a lot of people. Boardwalk.

  3. This seems like an awesome idea.
Instead of trying to target kids who have their own shit, target kids without their own shit and when these kids start using it the rest will follow.

On top of the arcade you could add a console and online gaming section, it may cost you more but it will be worth it.

  4. I used to work for an arcade , it's more than the attraction of the games it's like u said it gives them something to do other than the normal stuff so even though they have Xbox and all that they would still go to get out of the house , where I worked they had miniature golf , LAZER tag , a go kart track and a pond for bumper boats , I think the cheapest would be mini golf and LAZER tag , and ofcorse you have to have arcade games and a prize counter where I worked they had birthday pramotions where you paid say 12 dollars per kid you brought an each kid got 20 tokens , 3 passes to do whatever they want and pizza for the whole party , prety smart because the parents always bought more of everything it's like a tease to the kids
Oh and they also had a climbing wall , not too tall but tall enough to freak kids out lol
Sorry for the bad spelling and grammar on my phone

  5. Hmmm a console section wouldnt be a bad idea.
I grew up in this lil town and got into alot of trouble with drugs and the law. One of the main reasons for all my BS was i was terribly bored. I hated the roller barn and hanging out under the bridge was where i met alot of bad influences.
my real dream is to one day open a Plaza with a Movie theater, arcade, fast food place, library, gym, skate park, and a bunch of other shit for teens. I see alot of kids doing the same stupid shit i used to do for more or less the same reason. They are bored.

  6. So kinda like a more adult chuck e cheese?

  7. Id play the shit out of an arcade, if anything, fill it up with classics and aim it at adults. Cuz I know my mom wouldn't be able to pass up some games. Oh! And pinball. Cuz pinball is fucking sweet.

  8. Yea in a way it's men for family's so it had adult an children things , like the go karts we had an adult track and a small one for the kids , I don't know what all they have on the website but if you want you can look it up its called Allstar sports in wichita Kansas

  10. An arcade would be absolutely insane! Older generations grew up on games such as pacman, space invaders etc and i will guarantee that it will be a hit.

Great idea as it may also give the younger generation an insight to see what the games of the present day originated from.
