World War Z

  1. Can't wait for this movie! This is a zombie movie to end all zombie movies. The zombies act like ants, building a bridge across each other to reach high places. Jeez, imagine that happening.. Savage zombies. Anyone see the trailer?

  2. that sounds fucking awesome. i remember seeing the preview awhile ago. i fucking love zombies - they are so entertaining. i've played a shitload of zombie games and just finished the newest season of the walking dead. so... YES im definitely pumped for this movie

  3. The book was original and very entertaining. I'm having a hard time picturing how they are going to translate over the same plot of the book though, since the whole thing is just interviews with survivors...

Def love a good zombie movie though, looks dope.

  4. i saw the commercial when i went to see the latest twilight catastrophe with a girl and i can honestly say that my excitement over the commercial made up for the terribleness of the movie. the commercial looked sick and those zombies were some savage crazy looking zombies. should be good.

  5. best kind of zombies are ones that going fucking insane. like can fully SPRINT. like 28days/weeks later... such good movies

  6. Ya exactly slow zombies can be good but only if the show/movie has a strong plot/characters/directing. Insane zombie movies are far, far superior eg: i am legend, 28 days/28weeks. 28 days and 28 weeks later are fucking awesome zombie movies and the zombies are fantastic. I am legend was great too except the zombies could jump like super mario and were too smart for my tastes. World war z looks like a good combo - crazy fast insane butcher zombies that are dumb as shit ( but in a good way ) and swarm like ants to the point they scale walls and chasms. Sweet!

  7. Basically none of the stories from the book are going to be in the movie, from what I've heard.
    on
Brad Pitts characters story is just "one of the stories of World War Z" or something like that, according to Max Brooks.

It pisses me off how far this movie is going to be from the book. The zombies dont act anywhere near the same, basically none of the story lines/interviews are going to be part of the movie.

But I still love zombie movies so I'll give it a shot.

  8. I hate how fast the zombies are...

  9. It makes it more interesting when they are fast, otherwise you'd have an awefuo slow flick

  10. by the look of the trailer this movies going to have far too much cgi for my liking

  11. brad pitt + zombies. yea,im sold.

  12. i take it half of you all did not read the book. That trailer is an insult to the book, it looks like he only kept the title of the book, nothing else is the same. The book was not about "the race to save mankind" shit was already fucked and they were recovering. He "the protagonist" was just getting stories from surviors. I am not seeing this movie in theaters, maybe worth a $1.25 for a rent just like the latest Resident Evil like seriously Brad "you suck"

Looks like it could be a great blockbuster movie. I'll watch it purely because Bryan Cranston is in it.

As for "nothing from the book", pretty sure I saw what could be the Battle of Yonkers? Sure looked like what I imagined Yonkers to look like. Then again that could be 'generic action shot #356' I suppose.

That's the trailer. Not the whole film.

Plus I can't recall anyone ever claiming that this would be a straight sceneby-scene adaptation of the book. Said book being a collection of interviews about the titular World War Z. From the very little seen in the trailer I'd say we're getting a big-budget zombie apocalypse movie showing the collapse of humanity in the face of the Zeds, focussed around a character trying to find a cure.

  14. I've read the book multiple times and listened to the audio versions a few times.

Yes, the movie is going completely away from the book. yes the movie kinda looks like a disgrace to the book so far. But the book was still about " a race to save humanity"... you can't say it's not, when 1/2 of the book is about the countries putting into effect the "south african plan" and taking back the world. (don't want to post too many spoilers for those who haven't read the book, but if you have you understand what the south african plan is),

  15. Plus... for whatever it's worth, Max Brooks has given the blessing for the movie, so all the changes are some how supposed to still exist in the "universe" he created for World War Z.

Honestly, although I loved World War Z I don't think Max Brooks is that good of a writer. He always kinda seemed like he was just using the zombie theme to get rich/make a career for himself. So it's not suprising to me that he basically sold out the book and did whatever the movie studios wanted.

There's a reason he's basically only written two books... He's written World War Z... the zombie survival guide (which basically is barely even a book), and he's written a GI Joe comic series......
SO the last time he wrote anything you could consider "good" is in 2006, over 6 years ago now.

  17. ^ that right there is the shit that turns me off....

Zombie ladders, basically a "seas" of of zombie mass.... ehh I like the way the zombies were in the book better.

  18. Seems like a typical zombie movie, nothing special. The whole mass of zombies moving as one looks stupid, I mean the trailer looks like waves of zombies moving down the street like waves from the ocean and its so dumb

  19. The running and speed kind of annoys me. The book explicitly states that they weren't runners and that loads of people thought they were, so you'd think they'd (the writers/producers) know how fans would react seeing how fast they are. The swarms are in the book though and some of the best imagery in it so I've got no problem with that. The CGI is well below par though.

Can't beat just hiring a tonne of extras.

  20. ehh in the book they are described as "herds" and "mega herds"

oceans of zombies/swarms aren't really what I pictured in my mind from my book.
