we are already in ww3. ww3 the oil wars. i can already see it being made into a movie, staring robin williams. maybe even a game like a command and conquer.
If a dictator rises to power in a country that can cause serious problems to the world with a military, WWIII will happin. A likely canidate of that is hard to find though, we definetly got to tread the waters calmly in the middle east, and do what Theodore Roosevelt would of done. "Speak lowly and carry a big stick".
Anybody care to share their ideas of how a "WWIII" could break out? I don't feel any of the nations capable of starting a "WWIII" would have any interest in doing so. There will be more wars and plenty of "minor conflicts," the banks have a few problems to fix and loose ends to tie up. But the major battles over who gets what are pretty much over.
Pakistan and India break out in war, use each others nukes on each other then Russia and China gets involved, taking sides, then Russia and China duke it out causing mass warfare.
this is a possible scenario, Iran keeps pressing and developing nuclear technology for no real reason. Israel has told them to stop plenty of times now, Israel air strikes and takes out nuclear facility and Iran takes its oil stores hostage. US gets involved and other countries back up Iran. Things could get ugly.
Propaganda. There's NO SOLID EVIDENCE that Iran is enriching it's uranium for weapons or destructive purposes whatsoever. Fact. Prove me wrong. Iran is not even close to being a threat to you or your family. They test fire 11 missiles and everyone freaks out, a few days earlier Israel had WAR GAMES. I think it's ridiculous that your country is considering putting trade and mobility sanctions on Iran. Grow the fuck up, you, yes you, the guy I just quoted and stop buying into the machine. /rant My scenario would definitely be the United States falling into a major depression while at the same time possessing abundant war arms. The broken, tired, and scared citizens will then even MORE willingly buy their government's crap about safety by picking fights and policing the world, and prosperity through... umm... anyway. Look at the middle east on a map. As soon as Iran is invaded by these war mongering cowards they'll have a huge base of operations in the middle east. More countries will become annoyed with their presence and the wars will multiply and escalate.
I think that over the next 50 years, Russia will become a superpower again, while building alliances with Islamic Mideast nations and Central America while strengthen it's ties with China and North Korea. Over the same time period Iraq will stabilise and basically become a 2nd Israel and join NATO. At some point a conflict will spark between Israel/Iraq and Iran and both sides will drag their allies into the conflict, and it will become US vs. Russia, than all of NATO gets drawn in alone with China and Russias' other allies.

A terrorist attack. Someone will strike a super power. Not saying the US necessarily, but one of them. It will be big. They will nuke a country they feel is responsible. All hell will break loose.
