Working/Driving while High

I wait tables and work high just about every night. I don't like to drive high so I normally get there and smoke with some coworkers in the parking lot for about an hour before we go in.

 

I've read at least one study done in amsterdam that actually corolates improved safe driving techniques under the influence of mj. personally, I think driving high is pretty risky. even if someone flat out runs into you with no fault on your part and it comes out some how that you're under the influence, you're screwed. I love to go to work high, the only way to fly.

 

man i drive high all the time, some times my friends and i get high to drive, especially on the interstate. i'm no more distracted than when i'm talkin gon the phone and driving.

 

driving high is fine. you're actually more aware of what's around you and tend to drive slower than normal. Actually, for me, high speeds seem faster than usual, so in a speed limit of like 45mph, i'll actually go 45 and it'll feel fast. Whereas when I'm sober, I'll want to go a lot faster and have to limit my speed.

Work stoned is different, though. For me, I'll forget to do something in the short term. nothing big, but like maybe forget to give a receipt or something. the worst is that since you're high, you're over critical of yourself and dwell on small mistakes a lot more. a small, embarrassing mistake is intesified in your head and you feel a lot more embarrassed than you really should. I used to work at a video store and I didnt really like going there stoned. There's just a lot to keep in your head at once and when you're stoned, your brain only wants to focus on one thing at a time.

The only downside of driving while high is if you get waaay fucked up. I was on a 12 hour car trip once and smoked two blunts of nugs on my way out of town. i'd space out for large blocks of time and just stare at the trees or the sky and not pay any damn attention to where i was going. Also you can easily get lost as hell. Also (although i've done it a few times) smoking while driving is one of the most retarded things you can do. might as well be flying a gaint "I'm Teh high piggies!11 i luv jail!" flag.

On the job? I never smoke then work. It's just a bad idea in general.

 

Regarding driving, only you really know your own tolerance level. I love driving hig because it (almost) totally eliminates my road rage - I just kinda have a "live and let live" attitude as opposed to wanting to get out and bum rush the prick who cut me off. That being said, I know when I'm cool to drive and when I shouldn't. There were a couple of times that a buddy of mine and I would be hitting a new batch of some major sticky dank while driving and I just couldn't take all the pseudo-hallucinations. As his tolerance was FAR better than mine at the time, he was cool and took over driving for me. Just like drinking, know your limits. But yes, as was also mentioned above, it will really ruin your day in an accident if you're high even if it had nothing to do with anything you were doing.

As far as work, I'd agree with everyone above. I hate working sober because I want to go postal on all my coworkers most of the time and weed really calms me down - so it's actually better for everyone involved . Fortunately I work behind a 'puter all day & have little interaction with others, cuz otherwise I would be pretty paranoid having to deal with a superior while totally lit. So I'll try to keep a nice comfy maintenance buzz to make it through the day.

Being high while going through training really sucked though 'cuz my short-term memory is for shit and I pretty much forgot everything by the next day & had to rely more on personal experience and observation than what I was taught. But at least the training session itself wasn't as boring!

 

i think i just got driven home by someone who was drunk but im drunk so how can i trust my own mind this shit is fucked but yeah the more u drive stoned the better you will get at it so why not do it often

 

I'm a pizza delivery guy and I have not driven sober since I started working. The only times it sucks is when I've been smoking a bunch of good quality bud from a big bong and I'm hallucinating and stuff. I've only had to pull off the road one time, because my vision kind of turned into a kaleidoscope of colors and crap and I needed a minute to get over it. But yeah....smoking doesn't really affect my driving

 

i work at a hippy organic natural foods co-op... so i go to work high all the time. i think they'd yell at me if i wasn't fucked up enough!

Well.. driving im fine, but if i lose concentration... thats a whole nother story. as long as im focused i actually do better.

 

yea im a delivery boy and go to work high as a kite every nite. its kinda too the point where it doesnt even affect me, but it will make u slow down and think alot more about what your doing.

 

Anything is better when you're high, imo. I agree with a few different people on here on certain things: when I'm drivin high, I really get into the music and my road rage calms down. I also tend to go slower than I normally do, 'cause shit man, 55 sober and 55 high feel like two totally different speeds.

And work, ugh, the only motivation I have to go to work is the fact that I get to smoke beforehand. Going to work when I'm dry is absolutely terrible. I work at a hotel and smoking puts me in a much better mood and my customer service skillz improve. Yeah, my mind gets a little hazy with all the desk duties to do, but I know I can keep it under control.

If you're wondering if you should smoke before driving/working, try like half a bowl or something. Catch a nice lil buzz and see how you feel after today. If you think you can handle it, smoke up buddy!

 

I usually follow the speed limit much more closely when I'm high. When I'm sober though, I'm driving quite fast.

 

If you're going to drive high try not to do it when you're really baked first of all. You can do it, but you will not drive better. Just know your limits. Driving high is an amazing feeling in the spring with the windows down and music blazing through your head.........I went to work high at a not so serious job a couple times out of a hundred and it turned out okay. I actually got a $20 gift card from the store for getting a 100% secret shop that day, after i was put into a drawing for it.

Both times i went into work high was when i was offered weed 'free' (smoked them up later), so i couldnt resist....heh. Just have fun and know your limits and if you're comfortable with your high.

 

Sometimes when I'm stoned ill just drive with the music full blast, then I'll realize I'm very far away from home... I love it.
