No, in fact if the plant is a female than it may stress it enough to turn Hermie on you. Nothing will change the gender of the plant, gender is pre-dertermined already in the seed.
Yeah never interrupt the dark cycle, doing so will increase the chance of the plant turning hermie like dirtyape said.
