Another glimmering jewel of unadulterated, left wing idiocy. I was face palming all through this interview. Yet, she has so much confidence in her complete ignorance. Its mind blowing. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4R2yI3Mkwy0]YouTube - Whoopi Goldberg Doesn't Believe Japanese Attacked Pearl Harbor[/ame]
Looks like Whoopie was right the whole time, the Japanese in her mind didn't attack pearl harbor, the Japanese military did.
She was attempting to demonstrate the dangers of calling out an entire group of people based on the actions of the few. Blaming "the Japanese" in general is what lead to internment camps. She does not deny that the Japanese government attacked Pearl Harbor. If you don't agree with her point that is fine, but to call it "idiocy" is quite a stretch. It is not a game. Arguing semantics is entirely justified when we are talking about the language of fear and prejudice. Prejudice is far too easy to foster. Allowing people to say that we have a "Muslim problem" or a "Japanese problem" without confronting them on the difference is a perfect way to allow that prejudice to foster.
The Japanese air force attacked Pearl Harbor, what's wrong with that statement? You can say Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, because its government was behind/supported the attack, but because "the Japanese" is such a blanket term, meaning ALL Japanese people worldwide, she said that the Japanese didn't attack Pearl Harbor. Semantics.
And she was pointing out that saying that we have a "Muslim problem" rather than a terrorist problem, or that Muslims attacked us rather than Muslim extremists does just that.
Which is why Bill brought up the madrases (which woopie knew nothing about) and explained how these are across the world teaching people to be extremists. Its definitely not a Buddhist, Christian or Jewish problem. Its one certain religion thats churning out soldiers to fight a war against the west.
Yeah good old liberal hogwash. We didn't fight nazi germany either then right? Lol what a dumb troll. So how would she define our current wars right now? Can she play the same game of semantics?
Except that the majority of madras are not terrorist training camps but the equivalent of Catholic schools. He chose to counter the idea that saying Muslims attacked us is not overgeneralizing by overgeneralizing an entire group of religious schools. Nope, those religions have their own problems. If I were to say "Christians killed those abortion doctors" I would technically be speaking the truth. If I were to say "white people" were responsible for the Oklahoma City bombings I would technically be speaking the truth. It would not however accurately represent the truth or draw the distinction between extremists, or fringe groups. To present bare facts that support our own prejudices does nothing to solve the problem or address the real issue. Instead it blankets all of the people in that particular group in suspicion. O'Reilly understands the distinction very well. He consciously chooses to ignore the distinction however and even takes great pains to justify it. If it was just a question of semantics and that he really means the same thing that she is saying then why not just make sure that he clarifies it when he speaks? Instead he continues to use the blanket terms not because he believes there is a distinction (as he oh so innocently claims) but because he chooses to leave the line blurry.
Far more Muslim people have died because of Muslim terrorist attacks, than people from the Western world.
Only if we had churches all over the world churning out Christian terrorists. Instead what we had was isolated incidents. Again, an isolated incident. Also, nobody is saying "brown people" committed these acts. Its not even a racial issue. We're talking about a religion that is currently waging war against the west on a world wide scale. You seem to want to ignore facts in order to somehow convince yourself that you're not generalizing a group. Nobody is saying all Muslims are terrorists, but the FACT remains there is a war being waged in the name of that religion. No, hes not doing anything but stating facts. I have no problems understanding what he's saying. There is no blanket term. Just because you and woopie cant wrap your heads around the fact Muslims are waging war against the entire civilized world. You have this need to shield yourself from the truth, because you think the truth is somehow intolerant. Yeah, I've brought up that fact man times. How does that change anything? If not Muslims or Islam, who is it waging war in the name of Allah all over the world?
Imagine if the tables were turned and a certain amount Christians in the U.S. ran schools that teach kids how to blow themselves, and a whole lot of Middle-Easterners up If Arabs around the world would say "The Christians are running schools that are churning out soldiers against the East", they ignore the huge amount of Christians that not only have nothing to do with it, but condemn the attacks as wrong. The exact same thing is being done here, yes there are a lot of Muslims who propagate a war against the West, there are also a lot of Muslims who want nothing to do with that, and by saying Muslims are waging war against the West, you don't specify but pile the non-violent ones in with the extremists. Just because the people are Muslim, doesn't mean that "Muslims" (people who adhere to the Islamic religion) are waging war. Groups within that religion are waging war. "Muslims" is a generalization.
Oh yes and aliens anal raped me (don't worry they bought me dinner first), then took me to their planet where I was then pronounced their leader. They told me to stop being fucking one sided and especially quit watching o'reilly as it creates holes in the brain. Then they brought me back to Earth for a nominal fee.
Now let's change Muslim to Jew and see if it makes you think of another point in history. AKA histeria.
Whoopi is so right. We don't have a "Muslim problem" in the world. We currently have a problem with Muslim terrorists. Its just that the Islamic fundamentalists/extremists are using the religion to justify what they're doing. Bill Oreilly is flat out wrong, but he continues to blubber his inane garbage, "70% of Americans think the way I do [that the world has a Muslim problem]". That's the kind of shit that is likely to insight more violence from extremists, so fuck off Bill. Your argument is incosistent, saying that you don't think people in Pakistan view the Majority of Americans as like the man who wanted to burn the Koran, yet you do believe that 70% of Americans believe we have a Muslim problem? Whoopi owned you Bill, too bad the majority of conservatives/republicans who like Bill will never be able to accept it.
odd how a jappennesse attack,,, turned to discussion about muslims.... not all muslims are terrorists,,,,,but all foreign terrorists are muslim...
She is totally out of touch with the real world regarding her claims of rampant anti-Muslim discrimination in the United States, in particular when compared to anti-Semitism, which O'Reilly mentioned. He should have reminded her that President Obama's father was of a Muslim background, his stepfather also was a Muslim, he spent part of his youth growing up in a predominantly Islamic country, Indonesia. Obama attended Muslim schools, is very sympathetic to Islam, yet he was elected to the office of president of the United States.
To be fair, I think it's safe to say that the people that voted Obama into office are not the Americans most likely to hold unfavorable views towards Muslims..
