Wont the oven ruin the THC?

Discussion in 'Cannabis & Weed Edibles: Cooking & Recipes' started by BakeDatHerb, Feb 6, 2011.

  1. Won't cooking in an oven that exceeds 315 F (which every brownie/cookie recipe does as far as I can tell), evaporate the THC thus causing it to leave the baked goods?

  2. no ive cooked at 325 for 25 min lots of times and my shit came out great

  3. I use 320 for 21 minutes for firecrackers, and they hit hard. No, it won't destroy the THC.

  4. Yes it's true. No one has ever gotten high off edibles.

  5. yeah, i knew that edibles are possible, I was just kinda fishing around for an answer that may explain why it's not an issue, but simply knowing it isn't an issue is a good enough answer.

  6. just because the oven is at 315 degrees +....doesnt mean the actual product inside it is

the food would have to stay in the oven for a long time to get to 300+....then it would be burnt to a crisp

  7. thanks. I don't have much experience cooking... I didn't really think about it. That answers my question.

  8. glad to help, i knew it went to culinary school for something. :D

  9. ^ That may be true for a big roast or something but not for cookies or brownies. They will reach the temp of the oven within minutes.

  10. im pretty sure if you bake a cookie until its temperature is 300+ it will be burnt to a crisp....i look for about 200 when i bake cookies...i dunno

  11. well I'm glad there is some disagreement... it means I had a valid question haha. I'm gonna have to trust the chef here, but Im gonna purchase a thermometer to do my own research. Thanks all for the answers.

  12. You're name is "BakeDatHerb" yet you ask this question?

  13. Your name is kush and chips, and your on an informative forum for mj. Why are you on here, you msut know everything bout kush and chips?

  14. You have a good point. I thought making pot brownies would be a simple, uncomplicated process. It is turning out to be, to me, pretty interesting but also a little complicated. Either way, we have drifted off the subject of my question, but what I'm gonna do is, take a thermometer and measure the internal temperature of my brownies out of curiousity. No one has ever really been concerned with vaporizing the THC during the cooking process, so for some reason, it must not really be an issue. I consider my question answered and good day to you.

just my 2 cents, but thc does boil at 315 degrees(wiki). but in the case of baking, it compounds with the ingredients in the baking product which makes it more difficult for the thc bonds to be broken. when baking, any oil makes the cooked product more soft and moist rather than burnt or dry. :smoking:

and no just cause my name is chronickilla i am not a killa hahaha jk :smoking::smoking::smoking::smoking::smoking::smoking::smoking::smoking:
