Speed Trap Warning Sign Gets Woman Arrested | Video - ABC News saw this video.. pretty disappointing from the justice system and of course the cop who arrested her
Other than searching her I see nothing wrong with this. The cop was doing his job. She shouldn't have been out there with that sign.
perhaps the speed trap was his job, but, i think the reaction to the women was NOT doing his job properly. If anything, he should have told her to leave or he would do something about it, not jump out of his car, search through her possessions, arrest her saying she'll serve 3-5 minimum? I can't agree with that in the slightest.
First, freedom of speech, second, plain sight. The cop was in NO way performing an investigation, or a "stake out" in which exposing him would have been compromising to the investigation. Third, why didnt he just tell her to go away.... is he THAT lazy that he wants to sit around and perform speed trapping all day? There are MUCH more important crimes to stop than speeding, and less important is a lady warning people of a speed trap.... And as the lady explains, if the cops purpose is to ticket people who ARE speeding, while hers was to get them to STOP speeding, are they both not accomplishing the same goal? The other factor... the cop tried to nail her with a felony.. obstructing fucking justice. That requires INTERFERING (Prevent (a process or activity) from being carried out properly) she wasnt in anyway interfering with "justice" by making people aware they need to slow down.
She broke no laws. How can any of you justify her arrest? She's guilty of not having common sense. That's all. She could have put that sign on that pole she was standing next to and rode away.
I would pay no attention to some cardboard sign attached to a pole. Pretty sure more people would pay attention to someone moving the sign around.
I can dig it. But, I'm the opposite. I love yard sales, but hate to look at people holding signs as theyre usually begging, though I'll admit, most never look as good as that chick Plus, you couldnt read her sign very well. Eh, nvm.
Don't be surprised, this happens every time someone does it. And every time it happens it makes news. This will continue to happen. I'm not sure why people do this. But meh. In my experience if you're not drunk, and you're not speeding there really shouldn't be anything to worry about.
Although I don't really think she was breaking any laws, she should've known it wasn't a very smart idea
I was under the impression that this was illegal. People have said this sort of thing happens once in a while.. so were previous people convicted or let off?
How come no Republicant's come forward in defense of cops nationwide who use unconstitutional means of detainment and/or arrest, but call out each and everything our president does? We need to start holding our LEO's responsible for knowing and using the law correctly, sick and tired of living in a police state
It's now legal in Florida to flash your headlights to warn of a speed trap. Some lawyer got ticketed for doing this, and took it to the Fl. Supreme Court as a freedom of speech issue, and won.....
