Windows Ready Boost.. Does it work?

  1. Because I can get a 32gig flash drive for pretty cheap off my friend. Would using ready boost with the 32 gigs make my computer considerably faster?

Would it worth it for 10$?

  2. not really....

    just get some new ram.

  3. I recently updated it to windows 7 so I could encrypt my 8gig drive with bitlocker, and everything is running smoother than vista.

definitely not getting new ram for this laptop. Got it in 2006. Its actually better then my moms computer which she got in 2009 w/ hers having better specs. (I did a speed test on both)

I'd like to think thats in part of me taking good care of my laptop, while my mom clicks 'yes' on everything. She usually has a shitload of toolbars and extra programs I wipe off her computer every month or so.

Even with programs like Game Booster, which turns off some of your processes to give you better performance, I'd like to think ready boost could help if me if it had 32gigs of extra space to work with.

Its pretty much just an option I have. Getting ram or a new system is not.

  4. its only useful for about 4gb or so. Even then, its not nearly the same as 4gb of actual ram...it has not beena noticeable difference in my experience

  5. If you have usb 3.0 and a compatable flash stick it would be more logical.

    Why not just use truecrypt?

  7. Only on old computers with little RAM.
