Wilting and turning yellow

  1. Growth period is about 4 weeks now and they have quite a few leaves, but I went on vacation for 2 weeks and had no way to water during that time. So before I left I just watered a little more than usual so they wouldn't dry out so fast. Anyways when I got back the leaves were wilting a little and the lower leaves were turning yellow. The soil (miracle grow organic) was completely dry. So I put enough water to make it moist again, but I may have over watered. I have them in styrofoam cups, but never poked holes in the bottom. The next day I figured I'd poke holes and water came out when I did so. I put down a towel where they are growing and put the cups with the newly punched holes in the bottom on top of the towel so as not to make a mess with water.

Now it'd been 2 days later and I haven't seen much improvement. They are not wilting so much, but those lower leaves are even more yellow now.

Could this be a water problem, or should I start introducing nutes? I haven't added any yet and and kind of afraid to at this point because I always read about horror stories of over fertilizing.

  2. The plant can't grow if you don't provide some basic necessities. No watering for 2 weeks? No holes in the pots/cups? Starting in fertilized soil? I'm surprised there is any green left at all.

Not sure what to tell you to do for now. Don't start fertilizing -- if the plant is going to survive then it is under severe stress right now and doesn't need something new introduced. That soil you are using has nutrients in it ("natural" fertilizers so not as bad as the chemical time-released ferts in other MG soil), so don't worry about feeding now. Just get the watering cycle under control first and see what happens.

  3. I was just reading the grow journals and from the pics I have seen, my planst should be close to ready to flower by now, but they actually look like everyone elses do at 2 weeks. I think the growth may have been stunted.

I found a place that sells fox farm products and would like to grab some ocean potting soil and nutes while I am there if they carry it.

After seeing those pics in the grow journals I am really disappointed in myself. I am going to get another light for them, and just give them time I guess.
