Will this smell be a problem?

  1. I plan on flowering a 2x5x8 foot area with 3 different strains at the same time, one of them being Sensi Super Skunk. For odor control I have a new pro can 33 with a 4" can fan, which cleans air at about a true 200 cfm (adjusted for air flow.) In such a small space, will I be covered with this odor control? There's only one wall between the grow area and a public hallway so I want it to not smell like weed growing at all. Thanks for reading

  2. cmon 34 views and no replies? Someone's got to have some experience with activated carbon air control

  3. depend to your planet THC and growing room, room tempeture
and smell coming up on last few weeks on your growing time.:smoking:

  4. well, one ?- does it smell in the hallway when u smoke? well it will be a lot stronger if its a plant- just be sure that any smell is not bothersome to ur neighbors cause theyre the ones ur depending on not to call the cops

  5. Ultimately odor control is impossible to assess up front and particularly difficult to render an opinion on from afar based on a brief description. I am skeptical about your set-up, though. General rule of thumb for adequate ventilation is a fan that will turn over the air in the grow space three times per minute. You have 80 cubic feet, so that would mean a minimum of 240 cfm. And the effectiveness of that equation depends a lot on the kind of intake you provide as well.

But if you really need to pull odor out of a space you need to move even more air than that and you need to run it through a carbon scrubber or other form of air cleaner. Make sure you have good intake available and probably good to add an intake fan as well. Just no way to tell what it will take to keep the area from smelling up, though. Different strains have different odor strengths. Higher temps can make odor stronger. Odor may or may not seep throught walls (actually more likely through the joints and seams) depending on the construction quality and materials in your building.

Separately, you have to be careful about trying to grow different strains in the same grow space. Are they all vegging together as well, or is this a designated flower room? If growing them all together they may not all be ready to go into flower at the same time, they may be very different heights which can be a challenge for lighting placement, and they may take different amounts of time to finish off flowering. Just FYI.

  6. plants usually reek...scoure the net for deodorizing techniques...do your best, if it isnt good enough than abort- as much as i hatre to say it

  7. One of the strains I was looking at was Sensi Super Skunk, so odor control is very important. The space is a 2x5x8 closet, to be covered 100% by panda plastic 6mil film, with an air-cooled 400w HPS light used for floweing only. There will be a total of three different strains grown in a sea of green, being the Super Skunk, Dutch Passion Blueberry, and ANL.

The way the air will be routed is that the Carbon Filter is the intake, then a couple inches of 6" ducting connects it to a 6" duct booster. This boosts the air through a couple more inches of ducting and into the hood with glass encompassing the 400w light. To the exhaust duct on the hood will be a 240 free-air CFM can fan connected by as little ducting as possible, with about 12" of ducting after the fan aimable out of the closet space.

Is there a better way to do this, or route it differently? and should I switch from skunk just to be sure as the other strains won't be as smelly?

  8. That might be enough odor control.

How much odor control do you need? Do you need it to not smell outside of grow room at all? How close are your neighbors? If you live in a apartment building, then I would not mess with any high odor strains, that is asking for trouble.

  9. I'm not sure how strong cannabis plants smell considering I haven't even started growing yet. Is there any odor similar to cannabis that I can use to experiment what it would smell like from all angles and areas?
