Will these tops produce big colas?

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by Aztek, Dec 17, 2020.

  1. My second grow. On my first run my plant didn’t really make fat dense colas due to me being a newb. My plants look better this time around.
Day 7 of flower and the grew a bit and stretched a bit too. Do these tops look like contenders for fat colas if I do my part in flower?

  2. Maybe, nodes don't look too stretched.

  3. I’ve been trying hard this time around to get tight mode spacing. I upgraded my lights from a blurple to two spider farmer sf 2000s in a 3x3 tent, everyday in veg I carefully pulled back the new growth to allow more like in there, I’m using inkbird humidity and temp controllers. Humidity stayed between 55-65% in veg temp between 70-79 in veg. What else could I have tried. Besides genetics idk.

  4. Well if thats what u really want than might want to lollipop the bottom 50 % off
Let plant concentrate on just the tops

  5. I did that 1 week before flower and I have a lot of small insignificant tops just right at or just below the canopy that I plan on removing. I guess that raises a a few questions. By doing this will it increase or decrease yield? I’m on day 7 from flip should I wait until the stretch is over or do it right now?

  7. Id do 50% lollipop to leave budsites so they can grow into large continous buds.

  8. Big buds are nice to look at. Let's face it, real fun to look at. Getting big buds can be a challenge for some.
I set my goals to grow heavy yields of potent buds for my medical remedies. Big buds just get tore up anyway for processing and vaping.
From a horticultural perspective, the comments on lollipoping and defoliating in order to direct plant energy to the tops is SPOT ON. Also strain selection is important as genetics plays a role in size of flower.

  9. They can easily produce fat MASSSSSSIVE buds .
    I like them.

  10. Day 10 of flower I removed lower 50% but I didn’t defoliate fan leaves that are blocking prime bud sites. I’m thinking I should wait until end of week 3 of flower. How did I do?

  11. Update. Day 15 of flower. Did my final defoliation. Everything seems to be going smoothly. Run off ph 6.4 looks like they could use a feeding maybe tomorrow or the next day.

I curious how much light I should be giving them. Right now my two spider farmer sf-2000s are at 250w combined. I have been slowly turning them up every couple days. There in a 3x3x6 tent. Should I continue to turn up until about 300w?
