  1. I'm always sad/lonely.
I stay at home most of the time. I'm not very confident.. Especially around girls.(got teased a lot as a kid for being scrawny/having ugly smile)
I leave for basic training next month.
Will joining the army help me become more social/talkative..? I heard chicks like men in uniform.
I want to do something with my life.. Not just watch Netflix all day.
I just want to be happy.. Is that so hard to ask):
    Please help... Thanks in advance

  2. I'm lonely too, man. Been living that way for 5 years now.. just coming home every day in the evening, getting drunk, playing video games.

One day I just decided that I had enough - and I quit my job. I screamed at my boss, right in front of people who were ordering food.. then slammed the door. It just happened. It came to me naturally. I was no longer afraid, because I was sick of sleepwalking all my life. I'd rather be dead than have a 9-5 job.

I came to the conclusion that I wasn't really lonely at all. More like - my life lacks excitement. I like doing things that are risky and dangerous. My mind needs extra stimulation compared to the average person who is very easily amused.

  3. Man you're going HAM with these threads.

The best thing I can tell you is that joining the military will more than likely change your whole life. Every aspect.

  4. Really, I've seen some pretty humble people go into the corps and then they come out with a superiority complex. I can't say that applies to everyone but, in my opinion, it just makes people douchebags. You'll be happy with yourself, sure, but you'll be a douche.

  5. If you thought school was tough with the bullying you've got a rude awakening about to happen. They'll break you down first, take away your you-ness and you'll come out the other side a different person. I wish you much luck, keep your head down and don't volunteer for ANYTHING!!!

  6. If you think that being a paid murderer for the politicians in Washington will be a step up, then go for it.

  7. Don't step on a landmine.

  8. I went into the military and I can say without a doubt it made me a far stronger person on many levels. It takes time though. So don't expect it to happen over night. Also, boot camp isn't the military. Boot camp is fucking bullshit. It is meaningless as far as the over all experience of the military goes. It is meant to break you down and then build you back up in a far better way. Both mentally and physically so I hope you are in shape because that part is going to kick your ass. You'll be ripped though when it's over. Not super buff but you will be able to handle yourself at that point. Don't let boot camp ruin your experience in the military. You'll get through it, we all did.

As far as making it like a champ in the military goes, always volunteer to help. Anytime they ask for someone to volunteer goes, you always raise your hand. You always help out the guy who is struggling. Don't hang out with the loser dick slaps who do nothing but talk down about the military and shit all over it. There is no way to move ahead if you do it that way. Don't turn into a drunken jack ass like most do. Alcohol is cheap and you only have to be 18 to drink on base. It was that way when I was in anyway.

You pick a job? Or are you going in and letting them assign you something? If you have the choice, pick something now and get a school after to train you for the job you chose. You come out having earned rank. I got my E-3 when I got out of A school in the navy. Also it takes up part of your enlisted time while your at school training. Remember that you need to always be moving in a positive direction. Even after boot camp it is easy to get caught up into bad habits. People will always try and take advantage of you as well.

You'll be meeting all sorts of different types of people so choose your friends wisely. Get 1 or 2 close friends and then keep everyone else at arms length lol. There are some true shit birds in the military lol. As long as you keep your nose clean you will have the time of your life. You will go places and see things few others that you know will have done as much with their life.

As far as I know, the key to having a kick ass amazing time in the military is all about attitude and to keep moving in a positive forward direction. Always remember to volunteer because most people try and get away from having to do anything. Most of them always try to get away with stupid fucking shit. Don't be like them. This will set you up for one hell of a kick ass life if you play your cards right, hang in there when when times get tough and always do the right thing even when you think no one is watching because that is when they most certainly are. I fucking mean that shit too. Also remember that it is never as bad as you think it is. Stay busy and stay happy. That worked for me after I got my shit together and someone straitened me out.

Anyway I am one stoned mammer jammer so I am out like trout!

  9. I went to west point for a bit and I'll tell you this. No one place or situation will shape you. Instead of trying to find something just focus on making small changes to improve yourself. You aren't very talkative, talk to people any chance you get. I make conversation with grocery people, barbers everyone I can. Don't netlix all day, go for a walk, read a book, learn a skill, grow your own, look for a job you enjoy, start a new hobby or sport. Lonliness or sadness don't go away when you move. You have to make an effort to improve where you are weak. See life in a positive way, let the small things make your day. :)

  10. How many times are you going to post the same question?

Until you have a suitable answer?[IMG]

I got about two-three lines in, Sounds like you should join a fraternal group...

The military will break and remold you, into, debateably a better person. Where most of the others simply impart teachings and fellowship that makes you wish to be better, in many cases.

  12. You're gonna get shat on in the military.

  13. Stop being a fucking pussy op.

  15. I wouldn't trust you with a gun, no.

  16. You will be fine. Being the military does not make you a douche if it does that is just the person you were meant to be.
Make sure you choose a field that has a kind of work that you can do in the outside world in case you end up wanting to get out after your first term and not make it a career.
The only reason I did not join when I was young was because I got a little bit of a record when I was younger. I have since gotten things off my record but it is to late as I am to old now.
I agree with what was said above volunteer as much as you can as that will help with a faster promotion. I know this cause my father is retired military and I have a lot of friends and family in the military.
    Good luck and thank you.

  17. All the cool things like infantry and demolition are the lowest paying and almost no career benefits.
The most boring military jobs like digital communications or something technical provide you with degrees and a career afterward.
Even fuel supply (truck driver) gives you a hazmat license which makes really good money in the real world.

  18. Well all I can say is don't join the military, see action, then come back and go PTSD on some people. That would not be cool.

  19. i hear theres nothing wrong with the military other than selling your soul to the government, sittin on uncle sams lap while he has a raging boner & allowing them to turn your mind into mush .. but hey life will definitely change for you Op ..

  20. You are wearing out this topic. No more threads, you've gotten good advice.
    Let it be confined.
