  2. Most likely...no. However..
Very few government officials will mention weed, they will instead talk about the criminal justice system related to drugs, drug cartels from Mexico, the black market, ect. And since weed is the biggest part of the failing drug policy, ect, this is pretty much talking about weed without actually mentioning weed.
I bet Obama will mention drug cartels, and maybe the drug policy, and definitly the criminal system.
Or he can surprise us all and go ahead and scream LEGALIZE IT and light up on TV.
    We can hope. :smoke:

  3. No. Not a chance.

  4. Gil kerlikowski is supposed to be unveiling the new direction of the drug war some time around the date of state of the union address. Given the was they have been trumpeting the violence in Mexico as progress, I see decrim is not on the books anytime before the next presidential election. the entire address is to re-instill confidence in Obama after his ambitious first term agenda lies tattered and wounded after a hard year, with little to show for it.

  5. He's gotta a nice ole debt to show for it...and it isn't so little.

Hopefully, the new direction of the War on Drugs will be something beneficial....although probably not.

  6. In 2007, U.S. DEA Administrative Law Judge Mary Ellen Bittner ruled that NIDA's monopolization of marijuana research is not “in the public interest,” and ordered the federal government to allow private manufacturers to produce the drug for research purposes. But in January of last year, DEA Deputy Administrator Michele Leonhart set aside Judge Bittner's ruling – stating that NIDA possesses “adequate” quantities of cannabis to meet the needs of clinical investigators, and that the agency monopoly on the distribution of marijuana for research is compliant with America's international treaty obligations. (Notably, on January 26, 2010 President Barack Obama selected Leonhart to be the DEA's full time Director.)

I'd say Obama is trying to appease some people, and is going to be a stereotypical cowardly politician. Good for him.
