Will it be alright? (Cannabutter)

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by Grasscity., Jan 27, 2010.

  1. So i have a few batches under my belt when it comes to making the butter.

This is my first time actually using a plant, which is a short rider that never finished flowering. Not much on her, but she was a huge plant. To give you an I idea my crock pot filled up with all her leave material.

I did not use a coffee grinder this time, and I just used the 1 plant. I have to say its at least 2-3 oz. please keep in mind, there was not much hairs and trichome development on her. She was at least 3.4 months old.

I used a stick and a half of butter mixed with water. I used scissors to break the leaves and material up.

My question is, because it was fresh, the plant, will I still get decent butter? Considering I used a whole plant for a stick and half of butter. I just made enough butter just to make some cookies.

I been cooking it on the crockpot on the second lowest setting and stirring on occasion. The lid stays on at all times. I had her cooking for 4 hours now. I may pull her out her in another 2 hours, what do you guys think?

Should i cook it longer, or pull it now?

I am use to cooking for 4 hours, but I hear anything from 2-24 hours will do.

Another question you think the butter will yield nice in potency? Seeing how I only use 1.5 stick of butter.

  2. I used 3 oz of leaves with 2 sticks of butter, cooked it for 22 hours and got some primo cannabutter. 2 tsp on a bagel and I'm useless, gone down for the count.

  3. I would put it on low setting and leave her be until tomorrow.

  4. eek! I think i messed up! Is it possible to use to much water? I never had this happen before but my butter is not turning into a solid state. I am using more water then usual but that was because i had alot of leaf material.....

I went to check on it and the butter is kinda dark.... dam... well at least it was no real weed used on this batch. there may still be hope....

  5. Once you cool it the water and the butter will still seperate so you should be fine.

  6. yes mam, I gave it more time then I have had before when making butter. It seems this batched failed on me. After a hour in the freezer and 3 in the fridge I am still not getting any results.

I have not given up yet, and its still in the fridge. I should of dried the plant out then just used my hand to grind it up, that way I could of used less water. I was hoping for some cookies... dam... ty for input btw.

If its not separating then you have no butter. Separation takes 4-6hrs depending on fridge. I do not recommend freezing as it may freeze the water before all the butter can get to the top, and you will then loose some to the water. No such thing as too much water. Odds are either your container has too much surface area for it to pool across, or you did not squeeze your material well enough and it is still stuck to the plant matter.

When using water if you don't start with a wet cloth then butter will stick to the cloth, requiring even more squeezing. You have to really "man up" on it thats where the good stuff is...
