Next year I'm moving out and am going to get my private pilot license and then eventually get my commercial license and all that but I have to do a medical exam before i get trained. I've been researching a bit on google to find out whether i'll be able to toke at all in the next few years, and even when I'm older and have a job as a pilot, but a lot of people are saying different things. I was just wondering if you guys think i'll be able to smoke at all. I will if i have to, but i really don't want to go the rest of my life without weed.
I don't think pilots get tested before every single flight. Once you have enough experience, you'll be able to toke on days you don't have to fly. I'm sure there are pilots who smoke with the flight attendants after flights.
They do random testing while you're employed, and if you are ever involved in any kind of accident one of the first things you will do is a drug test
right.. so he's fucked. and yeah, I don't know if I would risk it.. flying is serious shit, and you'd have to be pretty responsible with it, and random tests are probable. Sorry man:/
yea man if youre a pilot then smoking is pretty low on your list.. youve got more important concerns, namely the safety of your passengers, including the scores of flight attendants you'll be dropping loads on throughout your illustrious career. i guess what im saying is you can never smoke again.
if marijuana is legalized AND they develop a way to not only test for marijuana but to definitively know the last time you smoked so they can determine whether or not you were high on the job.
I emailed someone who works at the flying school and they said I should get a medical exam before I have any money invested in it. So I guess I have to do the medical exam before I start training, but does anyone know when the next exam would be?
You'll probably get randoms. My boyfriend's mom is an airplane mechanics inspector at the Indy airport and they test everyone on staff randomly and frequently (she gets tested every 3-4 months). I believe the pilots are subject to the same, but I don't know how often they're tested.
I'm going to guess that there's one thing airlines don't want. And that's a pilot who's high as fuck (I don't mean high up in the air..I mean baked). So my guess is that they do random testing on random pilots all the time, and that it's not worth it to smoke weed. I think being a pilot is one of the few positions where you need to give up weed completly if you want to make a career out of it. Sorry dawg.
