Thats what I have been told and read by quite a few of the more experienced growers here and by the owner of the hydro shop I like to goto beause he doesnt try to sell you something you dont need or try to bullshit you about stuff. I have yet to try hydro. Right now I`m trying a coco medium grow which you feed and use nutes and ph everything the same as a hydro grow and am learning that a problem can pop up alot faster then the same problem with regular soil. I am currently dealing with either a calcium and or magnesium deficency in coco that came on fast, I also dealed with the same problem in a soil grow but it didnt pop up as fast and I had more time to deal with it before it got worse. To me I only have two indoor and one outdoor grow experiences sofar and am working my way upto hydro. Hydro from what I read and heard can be better and faster but is more techinical from what I gather so I want to learn as much as possible as a beginner before going that route.
Hi... I agree with what Tplat (and the store owner) says. Hydro can also be more expensive than soil in the beginning. That being said, I started with hydro (GH Waterfarms), but I also did tons of reading (stickies) and research before I started. If your interetsed in hydro, Rumpleforeskin has some great tutorials on building and using bubble buckets, which can be made fairly cheaply. The main thing is this, whether you do soil or hydro, the main difference will be YOU! Growing is and investment in your time, both before you start and after you get going. How well you arm youself with information (first) will be the biggest determination on how successful you will be! Good Luck!
funny question. Kinda like whats better a ak47 or an ar15? I prefer soil its less maintinance and easy to control. better flavor in my opinion too
if you're doing soil, FFOF, FFOF with perlite, or FFOF with a 2-1 mix of lightwarrior will do you solid HIGHTIMES.COM > Subcool’s Super Soil Step-by-Step check out subcool's recipe for basic guidelines
