Was reading some comments from Lester Levenson who was a US born Self Realized businessman then teacher of Ultimate Happiness. He points out that MJ can only take you so high even if you get higher and higher it never quenches the thirst to escape the confines of the human condition (confines of self identification with the ego body mind)... Yet based on his experience the natural way he happened upon out of necessity, there is no limitation to the natural high of giving up the conditioned person we think we are... That little person much of which is formed by society and educational system, conditioning to the point we are merely bundles of tightly woven concepts if you will along with fears, doubts and insecurities, that we put on ourselves... limitations self imposed... I'm hoping to get some feedback from those who actually do get higher and higher daily over long periods of time to see if they feel like they are becoming freer and happier in general including periods of not partaking in THC... i myself can't go that route so am taking the "inner path" as some refer to it, consciousness expansion by witnessing thoughts, actions, habits and dropping concepts... Here is the page from Levenson's writing that sparked this question. ---------------------------- "All drugs are poisons. Poisons tend to push you out of your. body and give you a feeling of detachment from its heaviness. By letting go of the attachment to the body, you expand your consciousness beyond the body consciousness. The harm of smoking marijuana or taking any drug is that you give it the credit for doing something that you can and should do without it. Being high is our natural state, and must gotten by our own doing-ness. The more we use marijuana or other drugs, the more we depend on them to feel high. Therefore the less capable we become of being high on our own. Also, when we do it on our own horsepower rather than with drugs, we can go way beyond the limits of the highness that the drugs allow, and experience the way beyond the most fantastic of our imaginings. You see, there is actually no limit to how high we can go on our own, without drugs. One thing, however: Marijuana could be an eye-opener in it may give you a preview of something you might never have had without it. But I don't advocate taking drugs. You can get the same preview with more intensity by just getting your mind quiet enough."
This is a short video (audio portion only with CC) part 1 of 3... Recorded back in the 60's on a reel to reel likely... CC helps if you can't understand some words however CC mistakes for wrong ones... ie, LL may mention "the Self" and CC may print "the cell"... big difference as the "cell" would be the "ego" not the Infinite Self...
I don't ever get very high, so I guess I would so I fall into the camp that you do. I do think ego dissolution has been a positive for me in many ways, I would also agree Cannabis is a great tool to begin peering beyond the veil. I could go on and on about this sort of thing...
Most cannabis smokers that I know don't smoke cannabis to gain complex spiritual insights about life and reality. They just smoke weed because they like to get high. And I somehow doubt that it is possible to continue getting more and more high as a daily smoker. When I smoke weed daily, my tolerance increases as time passes. Because of this, I need to smoke more and more weed to achieve the same sort of high. This is why I take tolerance breaks. I'd be spending a ridiculous amount of money on weed if I really tried to get more high each time I smoked. Smoking weed daily led me to the realization that I should probably take a tolerance break.
i think most of us do the same but it appears others (based on their posts) just keep baking on and on daily with no problem... it is those that i would like to hear more in depth from... no, i don't think many in the usa use for consciousness expansion but in India and other countries they have these "holy men".. some actually nude on the streets with begging bowls that seem to smoke non stop. they sit around in groups and use special pipes open at each end, with huge clouds, matted dread locks, big high smiles on their faces... apparently believe weed is the gateway to heaven...lol
I like to smoke weed for spiritual benefit.. but also to fit in with the crowd I hang with! Since doing ganja and other drugs, I have becone more open minded.. and compassionate.. and less self serving than I used to be... I see Heaven as a door that is near the knot I have in my gut!
Sadly it doesn't seem to affect some in that way, at least my take from reading too many posts under "Politics" here on GC... but i agree for the vast majority it mellows them out and expands the mind.. can't imaging what some would be without it assuming they actually indulge and still filled with hate from contracted cast in concrete conceptual thinking...
This is only an instrumental "house cleaning" (of negativity) with house being a concept... some call their bodies their house or the mind or whatever... didn't seem to be a genre in Music Hall section on GC so rather than dump just anywhere i'm putting it here under a topic that i started and feel it is decent music to bake to... not frantic enough for some but it is uplifting even if you feel great before listening imo... 18 min. but gets in the groove after 3 min. when the base kicks in bit jazzy...
Here is another off topic sort of piece of music that is baking friendly imo but i'm partial to East Indian flute and sadus, gurus or sages such as the image implies...
Its all about the context, you have to know how to use it to elevate your consciousness to your goal.Ganja gets you to a level but you must use it right ... Say you have a ladder it has all the steps you need but ganja gives you step in between those steps now rather or not you us it or trip over it is up to you... It is a tool but once you have finished the job what do you do with it ...?
Individual experiences are always unique. However, generally speaking, smoking marijuana without internet or purpose isn't going to get you anywhere interesting. It can be a useful tool, but in a way it's kinda like a supplement. You still need to do the "work" to get the best possible outcome for your needs. Even with the use of stronger ethnobotanical substances, you are only getting glimpses into the unknown. The only way to get to the ultimate "truth" is to actually die. And even then, who is to say that everyone will experience the same thing? Heaven or hell are just a couple of random ideas of what could be the next destination. It is just as likely that your soul will float out into the universe and become a distant star. Or, perhaps we simply die and that's all there is to it. Anticlimactic, but entirely possible. p.s. "How to change your mind" by Michael Pollan is a pretty good book related to the topic.
That has been my take as well but seems that there are a lot of hard core "heavy hitters" that keep chasing the high as tolerance threshold rises... Some use in a day what would last me 3 months but don't imply they are using in excess or they take offense... i've learned to not say a thing as everyone is different... Someone termed the effects of any drug that uplifts as a "bastard joy" (illegitimate)... Most spiritual disciplines frown on it claiming it harms the nervous system so that we lose touch with intuitive inner guidance... trading that for the quick fix crutch of weed or drink... It just happens that i scored a great CBD oil in a pre-filled cart today and was thinking this could be a crutch too... much easier to take a puff than meditate or do spiritual work...
