Will 150watt hps bulb work

  1. I have a "box" that is 2'x3' and 6' tall...
Growing 1 plant would the 150w hps be enough light?
Is there one bulb for all cycles or should I change bulbs when entering flowering.
    I am using autoflowering seed.

  2. yep the 150w sodium will be ok for one flowering plant easy ,,,,mac,,
ps you could try CFL light for veg make sure its got blue spectrum better for veggin

  3. So use some CFLs with blue up to flowering stage, then go to the above mentioned?
How many CFLs do you think it will take for this setup

  4. I agree with Mac, and yes some CFL in the 6500k area and you should only need 2-4 depending on the wattage. 2 if your using 125 and up watts, 4 if using any under that wattage.

  5. Should I have all 4 up top or have some lower, I had someone tell me to have CFLs down side as well...

  6. One to start. Then as it grows it will need more. To give it good light . If you have to buy bulbs, sockets, cords, splitters etc, it may be more cost effective to buy the mh bulb. Just my .02¢

  7. Ok so I am looking at possibly 2-26 watt 6500k sunblaster CFLs to start and then after 2-3weeks(autoflowering plant), switch to 6-13 watt 2700k bulbs...
That sound good for the lighting?

  8. i use a 125wCFL for the first couple weeks veg ,,then either put the 250w sodium on ,ive noticed the sodium lamp doesnt really cause the seedling to stretch ( if it does it is not much) ..after first couple weeks ,ive found once the seedling has a couple pairs of fingered leaves under CFLs,i start using the sodium for the rest of veg the plants dont stretch ( or very little stretch),,mac

  9. Try Marshydro Reflector 240w, it can replace 150w HPS light.

  10. If you want to fill the space eventually, you’ll need about 300 watts of HID or blurple LED. 240 watts of quantum board or cob LED

  11. Yes, well, kind of. You can grow one small plant from start to finish with that bulb and likely get a couple of ounces as long as nothing significant goes wrong.

But if you wanted to fill that area up you will need some extra light. Also, HPS causes some pretty severe stretching in early life. This usually looks worse than it is, but there is an easy fix. Add a light which has more blue in it. Which one you choose really depends on how much you're willing to spend.

My recommendation would be one of those little MarsHydro 300 lights. They only cost about £40 and are perfect for starting seedlings as they have lots of blue so you don't get any stretch. Using both the LED and HPS together during flowering would be a good amount of light in that area and you could fit two plants in there. Using these lights together would double your yield at least imo

Another option is to buy a £20 125w CFL (6500k) and do the same, it would fix the stretching issue, but you wouldn't double your yield, and it would use a tiny bit more electricity
