so i was growing a 12/12 from seed in a 2oz pot it was growing funky so i cut the top 1/3 off and the rest wasint even showing sex now its converting those into the main branches it went from a stock with tny leafs to a wierd spindly bush as big around as a 2 liter and maby 6 inches tall just wandering if anybodys had this happen and if so did it yield normaly ill post pics if any one responds happy growing
If you're in the veg state and grew from seed it won't show sex until the fourth, fifth or even sixth node. I think it got fucked up because of ta lack of light. 12/12 is only for flowering. in veg you want 16+ hours of light. if this is the case the plant grow slow and react funky.
oh! and I forgot. The cutting that you did is actually called super cropping or fimming depending on how you went about it. Some people will cut of the growth tip to encourage the lower parts to grow so that you've got an even canopy. It also comes in handy if you need to grow short instead of tall. As far as the yield goes look at it this way. You cut off the main branch, two three or four more can form out of the wound all of which will get the same hormones now as the on big one. what this mean is that you will have all of those turn into top colas when you flower so essentially while it might take longer to mature but when it does you will get a heftier yield than just letting it grow. check out pinching, bending, LST and fimming, you'll love it.
You chopped off the top 1/3? Wow, usually I just take of the top 1/2 inch. You definately need to change to an 18/6 lighting schedule or you might ruin your plant. Good luck.
Huh? What does 18/6 lighting schedule have to do with killing a plant that's been topped or fimmed or whatever was done to it, and now seems to have recovered? And while some might say that topping and fimming are within the category of supercropping, most would distinguish between the two, usually supercropping refers to crushing or severely bending a branch or stalk to cause it to heal more strongly with increased internal fluid flow, not actual cutting. To the OP, you need way more than a 2 oz cup or this whole discussion is moot. Post some pics, but it sounds like you forced the plant to branch out, which is not a bad thing for an indoor grow but it also sounds like you did not do it the right way. If the plant is thriving now then no matter.
ok the plants been on 12/12 its hole life it was budding for about 3 weeks and the room got to hot and toasted most hairs then i let it grow for another 2 or3 weeks but not much regrowth so i cut off the crony top and repoted now its bushing like hell ill post a pic in just a bit
