no a female will produce buds with out a male but it willn't go to seed so you can have seedless weed good luck
Males are there in order to polinate the females therfore, the males only make the female buds produce seeds, instead of more buds. and you want more buds therfore take away the males, and keep your females concentrating on producing the actual weed, instead of makin seeds.
