why when germinating seeds..

1. when the seed has germinated why do u have to put the shoot upwards?

2. Um don't.....

The white pointy thing coming out is the plants first root.

The root should face downwards in the growing medium.

The plants first 2 round leaves then emerge from the seed pod after it breaks the surface of the growing medium

If any of this doesn't make sense. Let me know

Happy Growing:smoking:

3. Yeah, the white root you see is the tap root and needs to be planted down...

4. doesnt f-in matter.

5. rofl :smoking:
i think someones been toking a lil too much ;)

6. Doesnt it turn itself around if its upside down?

7. yeah...................

8. Yeah it does but they don't always make it, that why it's better to be safe by planting the right way around.

If they can't get all the way around and break the surface in time they die.:(

9. it hate it when one prson says do it one way then another says do it another!

10. this is my philosphy at this time it is just a seed so i say put it any way you want. and if it dosnt make it from the germanation processes you havent wasted much time on it because it naturaly get rid of the little runt plants that cant grow up and fend for themselfs. give them a little challange and put the seed in anyway you want. if it dosnt germante after that then it was just a week seed. all of my seeds sprouted and i just put them in a jiffy pad/puck and sprayed them with a little mister. the seeds were in a warm dark room they all found their way up to the surface, and all had beastly tap roots when i transplanted them. you guys seem to over complicate it they call it weed, because it is a weed. treat it like one and dont pamper it. :devious:

11.
Yeah, the white root you see is the tap root and needs to be planted down...
Exactly.....

Don't listen to the others, omg they don't know shit..they think they do but they don't... "it doesn't matter!" ... YES IT DOES or your germination will take LONGER or your sprouts won't LIVE!... "plant it facing upwards" NO! Because it's the MJ root's natural way to move.....(lol, sry I'm no good at explaining things).. but i do know this for a fact, since i've read it over and over in books....

I just whipped this up to show you people WHY it should be placed with the taproot facing DOWNWARDS!...

it's simple...if you don't know it for a fact DON'T WRITE IT! it confuses the hell out of newbies so just DONT DO IT

12. Dude, that makes no sense. The picture.

Is that a seed planted sideways and growing its root around back down?

13. It makes clear sence...

Taproot is put in soil facing downwards.
Taproot curves around 90* facing upwards, whilst pushing the seed towards the top of soil.
Taproot then curves around 180* now facing downwards and seed is pushed above soil.
Roots begin to spread out in the soil and sprout begins to open once seed has fallen off naturally.

....

14. not that it matters but did you ever see a farmer go along and place each seed he plants...hell no...why not, because while you might give your seed a quicker start planting it root down whats a day or 2?

15. yeah exatly you dont see any famers plant their thousands upon thousands of soybeens corn or anything one at a time faces pointy end down. and if the tap root gets "confusied" then it was a stupid seed and it was ment to die off you dont want to fuck up the gene pool with stupid seed's stupid offspring now do ya. its called natural selection:D

16. He simply asked why it needs to be placed taproot facing downwards, and that was answered. Is he a farmer? No. Are you? No.

17. Well, which direction do roots grow? Up or down?

18. yea i also heard thi philosophy, to plant the seed unside down and when it pops out of the dirt,. the shell comes off with it. I think the whole point was to get the shell off the first set of leaves. But it already does this so i dont see the point. PLant the tap downwards. if you plant it up, you will have no MJ to smoke

19. I just planted it sprout down and it still worked fine!

20. jesus christ, did you actually read his question...or just assume you would be right? I've seen your posts around GC and it just pisses me off... trying to correct everyone, saying they're wrong and all this.... A tip mate, no one likes it

OT: THE answer was given many times, if you actually read the posts...
