You should just try drawing from life. There are tons of things that can inspire awesome drawings of things and of people. Still lifes are also an excellent way to practice value and depth in your drawing.

I made a huge trippy picture. The photo doesn't really do it justice unfortunately but it looks great hanging above my stairs. The tree is 3d and sticks out from the canvas, quite enjoying the 3d aspect. The canvas is just under 6ft tall.
