Why the fuck can't we talk about legalization?!

Discussion in 'Marijuana Consumption Q&A' started by EnjoiKush, Nov 7, 2012.

  1. wtf??????

  2. Because legalization is illegalizationized.

  3. Legalization is a trap!
Plus it takes away all the fun :smoking:

  4. Yeah I kinda agree with you.

I like the thrill of smoking and knowing it's illegal sometimes haha.

    I'm glad I live in Australia :)

  5. Since when?
I mean it could be some rule, fair enough.
Though I've seen the topic discussed many times.

I don't personally - but I'm not really pro legalization.
    More into Decriminalisation.
    Where in Au are you?

  6. That's the worst reason ever to smoke weed. Because it's illegal...

    shame, for real.

  7. The forum has a while section dedicated to legalization and activism. Wtf are you babbling about?

Hell will freeze over before our various states or the federal government legalizes MJ. A lot of politicians see it as the gateway drug so I doubt that is ever going to change, especially here in WA, they act like its ridiculously dangerous.

  10. Lol, I knew that was going to get hate.

Please guys, you don't understand. I didn't say I only smoke for the thrill did I? I obviously smoke it because of the relaxation/happy feel I get from it you overreacting twits.

  11. Adelaide bro, so yeah decriminalized :)

  12. Yeah I doubt Australia will change any time soon mate.

  13. What!?! How??? Explain! And no....the fun of smoking is getting high, at least for most ppl. Legalization would allow the market mechanism to drive the price of bud down, plus it would be fucking legal. I really don't understand what compels a smoker to have an aversion to legalization, just plain stupid in my mind, human nature is self preservation and benefit, wtf you doin man? Sorry for the rant, but I can't stand to see ppl opposed to legalization. What are your reasons, other than taking away the adrenaline rush associated with its illegality, to say legalization is bad?

  14. If someone were to sell weed, perhaps they wouldn't want it legal.

  15. This threads dumb as all hell, Theres an entire section dedicated to legalization and activism...

Fuckoff with the troll posts -.-

  16. 100% true, but since dealers, unless they grow too, basically take advantage of the fact that the drug is illegal and therefore harder to obtain to make money off of smokers. I know not all dealers are like this, but face the facts, they do it to make money, its capitalism, they take that money from you, the consumer. Fuck that, let the market open up so it's not similar to a bunch of local monopolies or functional monopolies, drive the price down. I care way more about the vast majority of smokers than a few dealers, plus legalization would lead to wider medical use and research, don't be so greedy as to only care about recreational use.

  17. I kind of agree, I kind of don't.
I'm not "anti" legalisation, but I think there's more negatives than positives.

It would be good for the buyers, sure - in terms of cheapness.
    Perhaps.
Though perhaps the govt (who will have their fingers ass-deep in "legal" marijuana) and large businesses/commercial farms will jack up the price, while reducing their own.
    I mean that's the thing isn't it?
The bigger the industry becomes, the more corner/expense cutting, and the thing is when things go monopoly, that means all the control is in their hands.

As well, if additives are "allowed" in products (eg cigs) that have no real purpose other than to make their more addictive to ensure further purchase...I don't see weed being immune to this happening.

Then there's how it would effect the growers...
The ones that sell legally will have their product subject to whatever the corporation/s will want to pump into it - and competition (which the average consumer will see as "yay, lower prices") will only drive the money made from their efforts down.
Just like big supermarket chains fucking over milk and vegetable farmers, making deals with larger suppliers than can afford to sell cheaper, offering the "little guy" just the same, or saying "grow for us", taking away all or most of their rights and input into the product, paying each person bare minimum to run their "machine".

Then there's the ones that want to grow for themselves or for small distribution. IMO there will/would be licensing and check-ups needed, "taxes" and basically a very short leash on how much they could even produce.
They'd have to lower their prices to remotely compete and they'd just...well be making next to nothing - which means these small growers, the ones that choose to do it legally, will again get screwed.
Their expenses will be greater (best believe grow additives will go up in price too), they'd have to pay fees all the time, and I believe their quality will suffer.

Another thing is, preservatives - I don't believe that big corporations producing marijuana products will do anything other than mass produce...you'll never know how old what you're smoking/eating really is.

Then of course there's the people that will stay outlaw. Grow under the radar and distribute it to...whoever... they'll probably end up with the best quality weed you can still get your hands on. Unadulterated "real" weed.
However, I would say laws (if not now, eventually) will steer towards people that grow illegally getting really FUCKED with a splintering stake.
Penalties will increase. Risk will increase. Even more than it is now.
    So what'll happen?
You get generic over the counter commercial weed and smoke whatever the fuck they decide to throw in there, or you can get some real weed - but the prices will be even greater.

I see it as more than just "We will get left alone smoking weed" and "We will get it cheaper". There's just more to it than that, and while I'm only going on pure conjecture of what I think may happen...I see at least *something* similar occurring.
So that's why I'm personally not thrilled by the idea of legalisation and resulting commercial production of weed.

  18. When it comes down to it, if its legalized you will be able to grow your own..a good majority of smokers would take advantage of this for personal use..and if the industrialized product is lower quality there will always be the black market as there is now. People pay more for quality now, why not after legalization

  19. Big pharm won't take over, it's a plant not a pill. Pot smokers are not stupid and won't flock to these places because we know what quality weed is. Grow your own, act if it was.still illegal. It's only a matter of time before full legalization. The movement is to strong with mmj programs and now legalization
