I recently got into the scientific glass world. But now my question is.. why are companies like Roor and Illadelph still so overpriced? Before I thought companies like Roor were the best. With many talented glass blowers out there, why are Roor straight tubes still so goddamn pricey. And with Illadeph's backward technology, I'm wondering why that company is still so popular
Because glass blowers know that stupid kids will pay for it. I've been smoking over 13 years and now I only purchase $45 bongs that do the exact same thing without $300 sticker. I'd rather add my own $5 sticker.
Because at one point, they could charge $400 for a one chamber beaker bong and people would pay it. Apparently they've not caught up with the times.
Yeah but certain glass companies are much more worth its value. Your $45 glass bong vs a $300 Roor straight tube will hit similarly A $45 bong vs a $300 Sovereignty will be worlds a part.
Yeah I agree there are glass blowers who pay close attention to airflow, I don't have time to try every bong for perfect airflow. Ima get high off my $45 glass anyways, the extra $255 won't get me any higher. You're paying for bragging rights.
Didn't say exactly, but honestly is it going to get me $255 higher? No. And it's not china glass, had those, they break in less than a week, mine is over a year old at daily use. Wish I got a larger stem tho. I believe it's Sheldon black or some shit, some blower at a video store. I knows it's not quality glass, but everyone agrees it's a great bargain for $45. 21", ice notch, thick glass, hasn't seen one chip around stem or base, downside is skinny stem.
honestly I think the king stem would get you higher than a single chamber barely diffused piece. sheldon black is roor.us iirc, and unless you have a showerhead downstem or some other diffused downstem, you're really missing out. ice pinches aren't even useful. doesn't do anything to smooth down the hit and the ice just throws off water levels.

It's still high quality glass.. it's like buying a BMW instead of a Toyota Not that much better in performances, but it's classy, flashy and much much more expensive
BMW is a poor analogy for roor BMW costs more but has Much more performance over a Toyota. I would say BMW is more of a SG... The Ultimate (daily) Driving Machine
I agree the bmw Toyota analogy is kind of off a better one would be comparing the civic Si to a regular civic sure its nicer and a little faster bit in the end of the day your still driving a civic . A straight tube cant even compare to an Sg
Except lfa... Point a to point b! Like I said, in my 13+ years of bong use, I like the $300+ bongs just not a #1 priority for me. I'll have one some day when prices go down. It's just glass.
how many BMWs do you see with 300,000+ miles on their engines....now how many Toyota engines do you see with 300,000+ miles on them.. this analogy is great.. just because something costs 10X more.. doesn't mean it out performs a damn thing
Lol dont be mad your poor. i love my two roors. i make enough money to buy roors so why not. yeah you do pay for a label, but that's true for every luxury product on the plant
Art is not cheap.. and when you start looking into higher end pieces.. you start getting into the "functional art" style of smoking... think of scientific glass as da Vinci.. classic.. clean.. while your more heady pieces are like a Warhol or Dali.. off the wall.. mind blowing its like deciding between putting a poster or a painting on your wall.. sure the poster will look alright and do the job of filling up space on your wall.. but a painting will look a lot better
Because I like to smoke. I like big heavy hard hitting smoke. I don't want to filter the fuck out of my tasty hits! And because I smoke a lot I want something I don't mind seeing all the time. I pay 3k for a television why not 450 on something I use everyday?
btw.. I still think RooR is waaaaaaay over priced and you can find equal if not better quality glass for less.. You're paying for the name when it comes to them... I don't care what anyone says.... and honestly.. if I had $2000-4000 to waste.. I would totally invest in one of the Bennet & Park Toro colabs... these pieces are an example of paying for the art of the piece rather than how well it hits.. im pretty sure every single bong under even $1000 hits as well if not better than these pieces
ROOR. its in the fucking name. it is the bmw of bongs. its a clean basic tube that performs to the best of its natural abilities. Bmw doesnt fuck with crazy ass turbo chargers in their (real) m3s, they keep that shit naturally aspirated. roor doesnt fuck with stupid percs in their baseline shit its just durable sick glass. i am just a proud customer so fuck all da haterzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
