Why is my plant growing so short/flat?

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by Dankmass, Jul 24, 2017.

  1. Hey guys, first grow here. Plant seems to be growing all its leaves and they look good, but there's not much vertical growth? Is this normal? It's 9 days since it sprouted, got a 300w mars hydro (140w true) at about 16-18 inches above - is it too close? That's the only thing I could think that might limit vertical growth. Any help would be appreciated!

  2. Lots of people prefer their plants growing like this, you just have a good light so no need for them searching for it

  4. Looks pretty normal for so young. Next time shut off the led and use your house lights. Blurple doesnt offer much in seeing how good your plant looks

  7. What are you watering it with, do you have a ph meter? If not, get one immediately.

  16. Guaranteed it's already hit the bottom.

    Roots grow very fast.

  17. Plants go to the light so if it's close it will stay that height

  18. Looks fine. Soil looks a little clunky so new roots might struggle for a little before your plant starts growing upward. Your plant will try to get a strong foundation before growing so this early in the game i dont see a problem. I also have a mars II hydro 700. Its normal for the plant to be bushy. The light has white and blue light which is good for bushing up your plant and keeping it short. When you flip on bloom it adds red light which will make them sky rocket. Im working on my first grow now. Make sure you add a small fan, it will strengthen your main stem. [IMG]

  19. Gotcha, my mars 300 does not have a 'bloom' switch, it says it's full spectrum so should be good for both veg and flower, but do you suggest I add something extra for flowering?
I've got a small fan on it right now. Thanks for the advice
