Why I think weed is illegal in the US

Discussion in 'General' started by Zedstomper, Oct 18, 2012.

  1. Bare with me. If 1 out of 3 inmates in small prison are there for marijuana charges. And all they do is hard labor in those privately ran prison. Basically slave labor. No slaves no buissness in saling the shit inmates build. Anyone get what im saying?

  2. Reefer madness, bro. :smoke:

Edit: But it would make sense to keep it illegal. But I don't get why they put non-violent criminals in there to "think about what they've done." I smoked a joint, bro. Pessimist on a pacifist much? :p

  3. That's part of it man. Private Prisons. Aka for profit prisons. They make money by having you locked up. It's big business.

  4. private prisons and the fact that hemp would cripple a lot of industries that are currently raping the earth.

  5. Its because weeds dangerous, read a book stoner!

  6. there are many different reasons .... it's not just one or the other . .

reason 1. If weed was legal, everyone would grow it themselves. AKA no federal or state tax on it what-so-ever.

reason 2.Why make it legal federally when they already know it's the number one cash crop in the world. Keeping it illegal brings them revenue from arrests. through tickets, probation, jail, etc. etc. etc.

reason 3. The pharmaceutical industry would practically collapse. Who the fucks gonna go buy the drugs that are killing them each day, when they know for a fact weed hardly harms you at all in comparison. Think how legal marijuana would fuck up pharmacies, doctors, hospitals, etc.

the reasons of why it's illegal are endless. If I really felt like it, I could bust out at least 10 legitimate ones. But in my opinion there's just hardly any sense.

  7. You must be fucking high

  8. I completely disagree with reason #1. Plently of people still wouldnt be growing.

  9. what makes you say that?

Do you know how easy it is to grow weed? it might not be "the best". but if it's something your using on a daily basis, what would make you go to the store to buy it over and over. there's just no point.

edit: OK you said "plenty" of people wouldn't ...

when i said "everyone", i meant most people.

Or anyone with at least the smallest bit of a brain.

Op, you are aware of the cost required to keep someone in prison right?

Well, lets use these stats from 08-09 lol, close enough, from cali

Keep in mind these are annual stats.... per inmate

    Security cost ~$19,500
    health care ~ $12,500
    Operations ~ $7,000
    Administration ~ $3,500
    Inmate support(food, clothing, activities) ~ $2,500
    Rehabilitation ~ $1,500
    Misc ~ $100

So that total comes pretty close to $50,000 a year per inmate.... and you are thinking each of said inmates is making enough in essentially slave wages to cover that cost?

    Highly unlikely

and also raises the question of why we pay taxes to keep fucking prisons running if the inmates technically create a self sufficient prison economy lol, but they dont

    Those were the best times

  14. Get real OP.

You ever realized that those inmates would produce more money and be considered more valuable to society if they were free?

They get locked up because they break ignorant and irrational laws written by a dictatorial state.

  16. ah, you mean when white men had power

because, lets be honest here.... the world wasnt fucking equal in the 1700's or 1800's (dunno if you meant when it became the 18th century, or when it ended lol as that phrase goes both ways)

  17. Sirsog, how about the companies that make private prison compounds? They are the ones making the dough...
What's keeping it illegal could be the major lobby that farmaceuticals and private corporations make.
There are plenty of reasons to keep weed banned.
My personal experience is that I am making a better person of myself, everyday since I started learning the benefits of Marihuana. I had a jumpy start, just like everyone, until I figured it out. For what is good for me.
But you know? A lot of people don't have guidance about weed, and get lost. But it's a major tool for enhancing oneself.
I think that is another big reason for them to keep things in their control.
Many people that do fucked up things, everyday, like piloting a drone firing hellfire missiles above people 3000 miles away from him, will eventually realice the harm they are making and start to revolt.

    That's why I think it's illegal.

  18. All i was saying is the theory that keeping people in prison is why its illegal is kinda nonsense, as us as tax payers PAY to keep people in prison lol.... the inmates dont cough up cash to stay there like its a hotel

weed is illegal for a million reasons that have no legitimate basis, i already know that lol

and privatized prisons are a whole different story. But it still costs them a butt load of money to keep people locked up and fed for 3-5 years over selling a plant lol

  19. I guarantee less than half of the population that smokes would grow their own weed if it was legal.

I agree, mainly because you will have groups of people who know someone growing enough to supply them lol.... and you also have people with no time to care for plants, no location to grow, and handicaps that leave them unable to grow
