Don't get me wrong. I have been to about 15 'bisco' shows. I've been to about 30 phish shows, moe shows, cheese shows, further shows, jazz shows, reggae shows...... Good for me right?! I don't watch much sports, and I'm an audiophile. I like to get outside myself and dig music. I'm addicted to going to shows... Truthfully, everyone has their own right to like what they like. I got into this-what turned out to be-heated conversation over the disco biscuits about a year ago. So, I did myself a favor. As a person who loves music, 'the scene', and getting out their(in another spacial realm)(pushing sanity to the limits), I went to at least 5 shows-including camp bisco-in 2010. I wanted to see what was really up!! Was I missing something positive?! Was I missing something amazing?! The answer is definitively......NO. The scene was full of 16-23 year old wannabe raver types. Selfish, loud, uneducated, rude, capitalistic, un-diverse, TRUSTAFARIAN, HIPPIECRIT, crystal-worshiping, inexperienced, ELITIST, and fundamentally narrow-minded punks. Their were plenty of older than 30 dudes with flat brim hats and stoned out glazes with 18 year girls. Bratty Jappy girls with sparkles and hipster glasses("bag chasers"-girls only in it for the free drugs). Wooks smoking DMT and spinning in a circle(using a sacred medicine as a recreational drug--the wackness). The people their looked like bandwagon geeks who forgot what good music sounds like........and on top of that, their was an aggressive non-communal vibe. A dirty vibe. The vibe smelled like throw-up and salty molly finger-prints.... Then their was the music, or musical masturbation that those jackasses from philly expunged from their instruments......"apple butter toast is nice"....what? Phony electro. The new deal, lotus, rudder, sts9, were bringing it to the table this year. New sound.....new flavor. Real vibes, good people. Has anyone heard the new mastersounds? WHAT WHAT? No electro loops, just pure chops.... That new album the biscuits put out is the worst jammy electro nonsense I have ever heard. Seriously. What kind of blow were they on--they sounded like KC and sunshine band meets miley cyrus...garbage. This of course is just an opinion. I consider myself well versed in the scene, and well-versed in music. I just can't believe what a lame crowd the biscuits gather when they play. It is everything wrong with musical gatherings.... no love, no intention, no intellect, just drugs and money......and competition....and poor quality(a reflection of the people and the horse-shit sound that comes from magner and those junkies) UUUNNTZ that
GOD DAMN IT... I had like a page response typed up here we go again. I've heard mixed reviews about the Bisco community. Try All Good if you're in the North East, there are quality people there through and through. Inexperienced crowds are bound to exist but if you're an experienced concert goer you can use this to your advantage IE) Cutting through the crowd with much ease. You can't really let crowds get to you too much especially at a festival due to the copious amounts of things people have consumed. I don't understand this new raver scene... IDM/EDM is not music to RAVE to don't get me wrong I love supplementing with substances and banging my head off to bass but it's not a rave... I used to go to raves; warehouse, short period of time for notification, trance/house techno... No polished and pretty venues and definitely some ugly ass people haha. As for jam bands I downloaded the Biscuits but really wasn't digging their jams, I'll probably see their show at Bisco this year when I go just because I heard you can get some on point substances there. The New Deal and Lotus are awesome jam bands I've seen them both 4-5 times this past year which has been wonderful. Not a big STS9 fan and I've never heard of rudder, thanks for the suggestion.

I feel that. Your right, the lineup was amazing. Whats happening in electronic music right now is amazing....even all the sub-genres in dubstep(its some pretty technical stuff) Nit Grit, Mimosa, chronicles of the land squid(asheville,NC what what!). And your also right about not letting a beat ass scene dictate what shows to go and see. Bisco kids are the WORST. I mean just plain ridiculous. With that phony so-cal BRAH-type surfer type jargon that flies out of their spun-out cakeholes.....but sometimes the biscuits "get down". I have to admit conspirator is always a good time. It's just the rabid allegiance that biscuit fans hold to the fading dynasty of that type of music. It's hey-day has come and gone......real dj's are going to start crushing it again USING RECORDS AND TURNTABLES NOT APPLE COMPUTER AUTO_SYNC PROGRAMS....these programs auto match BPM on each track and sync keys and basically do all the mixing and looping on command. Its pretty weak stuff.... The days of jon guttwillig ejaculating his guitar noise into the air w/ triumphant video game sounds is almost over. The crowd keeps on getting younger and younger and wacker and wacker. The drugs keep getting dirtier and more cut up......its really a bandwagon scene. Like Jay-Z says, "On to the next one". Good music will always prevail I think, and redundancy will be called out for what it is....repetitive and unoriginal. But as for DMT. F that man. That is not a "party drug". It's a ceremonial ritual. Learn some history,read a book, whatever.... do yourself a favor and educate yourself. It smells like shit and only lasts 20 minutes. Thats how a lot of festivals around my area are getting, people just go for drugs and attention, instead of going to enjoy the music and positive vibes.
think about it: real heads = the kids who randomly stumbled upon a show which absolutely blew their mind so they are all into it for the music fake heads = the kids in high school who see all their friends sitting in class wearing alex grey t-shirts and going just cuz all their friends are going.
festies are just about fun and partying dude...which obviously means music is a HUGE factor...id never go to a festie unless the lineup is good, i will never buy tix to a festie til i see a decent part of the lineup i really cant stand people who think festies are supposed to be like a big hippie thing and everyone loves eachother...like im not gonna be a dick to anyone unless they start shit up first and stuff like that but the hippie movement was a long time ago dude...ill be nice to other people but at a festie im trying to chill with just my homies and thats about it, besides girls obviously...maybe u shud go to burning man or small gatherings instead of big festies if ur looking for that hippie shit and obviously festies are somewhat about drugs...theres no such thing as a festie without drugs so stfu

Psilocin was making a pretty simple point, that basically a lot more people are going because it's a pretty safe place to do drugs and fuck around, regardless of who's playing. That less music fans that do drugs to enhance the music are going than fans of these drugs, that use the music to enhance their high.
