I myself am not a fan, and I don't feel like being aggressive on how I don't like it. So instead I'm going to ask, why do you guys like it so much?
Because basedgod. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbGq5qnxbjQ]Lil B - Obama BasedGod *MUSIC VIDEO* WOW I MEAN HE WENT INNNNNNN - YouTube[/ame]
I used to hate rap but I was high one night listening to pandora when some raps songs came up. I enjoy the beat and rhythm in rap songs and like how rappers merge they're lyrics with the music. The flows they're able to produce with words seems like a cool talent. I listen to a select few though, there's a lot that suck.
Well I love Tech N9ne because I love the dark music, and his speed is incredible and goes well with the music, especially his vocal effects; or growled hhhhuh's I like Hopsin mostly because of his song Ill Mind of Hopsin #5, it kind of inspired me haha. And Eminem just has amazing rhyme stories and catchy beats.. and his aggressiveness is a nice audio-based release ^_^ Hey Delluhsion, been a while! Salutations brother I don't understand why my brother and his friends all enjoy 2 chainz and those kind of rappers... they all rap about the same shit. Yes, I myself enjoy Eminem.
Lol Wiz Khalifa sometimes raps about bitches and Eminem raps about acts that break laws but they're alright. I judge a rapper more on his flow and ability to work with the beat. I think I found a new song to get high to
There is two forms of rap, the shitty rappers like lil wayne and 2 chainz who have no message and only rap about bitches and money. Then there is rappers with real messages who are actually good like kendrick lamar, really all of black hippy, pretty much all of slaughterhouse, kid cudi, reks. The best thing about rap is the beats and how they get their voices to flow to the beat, especially when high. It's really not as easy as it seems, you can have the greatest lyrics of all time but it will sound like shit if you have no flow. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fS_Q2l7YEU]Cunninlynguists - The Gates feat Tonedeff - YouTube[/ame] this is why I like rap. Listen to the lyrics. The beat. The flow. How it all comes together and makes a perfect story. Hip hop gets pretty deep...you just gotta know who all the actual good rappers are. smoke a bowl, skip to 1:22, and drift away.
I'm sure you have a good reason not to like rap though. Just like I have a good reason why I don't like country music. That reason being, I just don't personally care for it or like the style or instruments used in it. And that's a perfectly fine and irrefutable reason to not like ANY music. Nobody can tell you what you should and shouldn't like. Even though I've seen you may have changed your mind?
In all honesty, I think most rap blows (no offense guys). Today's "rap" is retarded if you ask me; lots of words are made up (I consider slang real words, but not stuff like "Swag"). I can't take that stuff seriously, it's just too stupid Then there's other rap that revolves around gangs / violence, I don't like promoting violence, therefore I don't like this stuff either, nor do I like sexism in music (i.e. calling women "Hoes/Bitches") But then there's some stuff I really like; I don't listen to rap often, but I do love my Cypress Hill. There's nothing like getting stoned while listening to their album "Temples of Boom." So, to answer your question: Whenever I listen to rap, its cause its awesome music to get stoned to.

Maybe you have only listened to shitty hip hop. I don't want to try to explain why I like hip hop, but essentially it's because guys like Nas, GZA and Jay Z back in the day are just lyrical geniuses, with great flow, great songs, usually with great productions from the likes of RZA and Q-Tip. Most hip hops beats these days suck. Get high and either read the lyrics or listen very closely while listening to these. [quote name='"ThrashManiac93"']Most hip hops beats these days suck.[/quote] Seriously? Most of the songs back then used the same drum loops and often even the same samples. I can't even count how many times I heard the damn drums from 'impeach the president' in a song from that era. At least today there is more originality and creativity.
Sampling is played out because the producers exhausted every thing they could get their dusty hands on..
