I've tried reading up but everyone says incandescents are not good for growing? How true is this? I'm using 2 CFL's right now but what if I added a soft white 60w incandescent bulb in there for the hell of it? Would it help any?
^Yep. Incandescents actually are very inefficient lights, they convert a low percentage of their energy consumption to light and too high a percentage of their energy consumption to heat. And wrong spectrum. So incandescents starve your plants of the light they need while frying them. This is true even for supposed "grow bulbs", the ones that look like flood lights. The only time I use incandescents is when my grow op is too cold so I want their heat output. Even then I totally discount their light contribution. Stick with fluoros, CFLs, HPS, and MH for growing. Check the lighting guide link in my sig.
