Why Did This Happen When I Changed The Pots?

  1. I noticed my plants weren't looking to good and I read they should be planted ~12inches away from each other if they are in the same pot so I decided to switch the two plants I had into two separate pots.

When I moved them I added soil, layered the bottom with some all natural oats for nuturition and added brand new rich soil in both the pots, in hopes of helping the shock of the transfer.

Anyways here's what they were looking like before the move

Here is what they look like now, three days later.

I understand that there was going to be some shock but oh my god...
What happened? Are they dead? Can they come back from this and survive?

  2. Oats? I have never heard anyone use oats. I don't see that as your problem. Your soil is way too wet and compacted. You need to add more perlite to the mix. Also, those two plants were bound to have crossed roots and you probably did some damage transplanting. Obviously, don't put two plants in the same pot - ever.

Adding oats into the soil when transplanting is suppose to help with shock or atlease that's what I heard from the grapevine. I watered the soil a few seconds before the picture, it was completely pretty dry when I watered it and I left the soil pretty loose just compacted the top when I transplanted it but that may be it. Thanks.

Yeah, I understand that now; is it possible these plants will live or should I just start over?

  4. The one on the bottom photo might have a shot. Pitch the other one it is dead.

  5. If they do live they're gonna be shocked like hell. Id start over fresh...in separate pots.

  6. I'm a novice but...The one is def deceased. The other one could get better and be fine but the time and light power it takes to recover two new seeds can be planted and bigger than that by then. But if that's not an issue then yeah heal it.

  7. I completely screwed this one up transplanting to a 5gal about 35 hours ago. Hoping for the best tho. It happens ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1408575876.265591.jpg
