Why Democracy is a stupid, and flawed idea.

  1. Ok, now I'm not going to say Canada or the US should stop being democratic I mean, it's the best form of government we got now, and is a whole lot better then a fascist or communist government. But it is still, majorly flawed.

Reason 1: There is still only a select group of people in power. Just like communist countries, there is a body of people who have power of the country, and control the country's goals, how they achieve these goals, and their stance on the world platform. You also, have a very tiny voice when they decide bills, and laws. You may say you can protest, while that is true, it doesn't do much good. If a government is going to do something (IE give the IMF more power) even if you protest, chances are they will still go through with it anyways, as has been done for many years.

Reason 2: In democracy, all the people do is vote. That's basically the only good side of democracy, but even then it has its flaws. So lets say you see a person running for election, like what they say, like their ideas, so you decide to vote for them. They get elected, and that's the only input you will have. To democracy, you are now useless. When will you be useful again? Next election.

Now, I'm not saying democracy fucking sucks, and we have it the worst. I would hate to live in a communist country, a fascist country, or any country other then a democratic country. However, this is only because democracy, is the only good option. I like democracy, its just a flawed idea. Its designed to make you think you have power in a country, but really you don't. The only way you have power, is if the masses have power. Democracy is communism designed to look appealing and beneficial to the public, with a few different twists then communism, and some benefits to it.

  3. Government in general is a flawed idea, and needs to be eradicated.

  4. If we ever want to progress as a beings we have to get this dam control idea out of our heads

  6. So what should we be

  7. I much rather see a more mild form of Democracy where the majority of decisions are made through panels of technocrats (engineers, health care professions, scientists) that make decisions (or more likely suggestions) based off actual FACTS, where they can then vote on bills themselves and send them directly to the president to be signed or vetoed, cutting off the Congress to a substantial extent.

if i can be as honest as fuck right now, i think communism is a good idea. The only problem has been that communist states are too large (by landmass) if communism is to work, it has to be with geographically small states. i agree with OP, democracy is just another way for businesses to be in charge. Ideally someone like me (or not me, i don't care) would be 'in charge' who doesn't care about money or power, and just wants everyone to get along.

Has anybody read the third book in the Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy trilogy? the president of the universe had no idea what was going on, and was basically David Hume in disguise. I/We believe that power should go to the person who wants it the least, because they would do the least to keep a hold on it.

i wish humanity could all work together towards a common goal, but there are just too damn many of us. communism works great in small groups, but the world is 'too large' for that to all work. maybe all it takes is for a president/dictator to be elected who thinks humanity is a worthless breed.

you know what? screw the whole thing. Elect me as your next president.

    Friendly Neighborhood Misanthropy for all!

Also, @JNUG- i think bills shouldn't even go to congress, they should go right to the hands of the voting public. this would eliminate corporate ownership of candidates, and put the power back in the hands of the 'real' people. our world is just too damn big for that to happen. I really thinkg John Titor's civil war of 2012 should happen, just so that the US could be split in two, making it more manageable for us low level types to manage.

@all you math nerds: How can we extend our week so that we can have a three day weekend, but still fit into a 365 day year? we could have saturday, sunday, and voting day: where everyone could have a day off every week to participate in the democratic process.

  9. You got that right

  10. we have the internet

  11. The speed and open nature of information means that nothing that has been defined will ever work. It requires a whole new system. The group of people.controlled by one party is now too big for anything like capitalism, comunism, socialism to work without critisism as the worse of are super aware of the better off unlike before... Ants are where its at :) or tbf queen ants... A species that lives to work and aspires for.nothing other than existance :p

  13. True democracy isn't flawed, it just hasn't worked for centuries.

The Athenian model intended that every 'elegable' voter, and I use that rather loosly, had their voice, and vote counted. This meant that any political decision that affected the city state had to be voted upon. Only problem was that the electorate didn't include over half of the cities population, namely slaves and women, but we can all ignore this annoying truth.

However, after many generations ignoring history, and living under autocratic rule, the democracy of today has come to pass; in all its power hungry, money-centric and generally unfair glory... Our view of what we expect politicians to do, and how they should behave possibly needs to alter; but it won't.

    :apathetic shrug:

  15. we live in a democratic republic, not a true democracy. and maybe if people took initiative to petition the government like we should, maybe then we would see some change once in a while.

  16. in MY opinion, a stateless society would be best..

central planning; be it a dictator, a president, or panel of "experts", will always violate the (property) rights of individuals in mass scale. this = disaster (20th century:wave:)

  17. ah ha, i have found it.

But would this not result in survival of the fittest.. Someone will always have differing opinions to you and unless you can kick his ass you gotta toe the line! Unless you can kick his ass then he has too! Same difference really

  19. Democratic socialism.

  20. Yes. Government AND religion have to go. Society does need an overseeing body to kind of control things but not in the way we have set up now, at all.
