anyone who has never pulled the male plants knows how much seed can be produced. If you were to buy a 10 pack of Ak-47, and you got 5 females and 5 males, would they be able to produce seed? You would think so but if they did produce seed then how do a few companies still maintain a monopoly or charge so much. Whats to stop me from buying the 10 pack and then just selling seed?

If you leave just one male in a crop of females it will leave all your females very seedy. When growing if you encounter a male, instead of killing it, take it into another room of the house and then bring a female along too. This way come harvest time, that female's buds will be packed with seeds, and then you have tons of seeds for the next couple of grow ops. and to answer your question, because selling seeds is illegal and there isnt as many people who would grow versus just buying weed. Only 1 out of every 15 people, lets say has a grow op going. The others cant because of rent/ neighbor/ & just generally being paranoid issues. Thats not alot of customers. You could sell the seeds, but youd have to go out of youre way to make money off of it.
Nothing is stopping you from buying some seeds and growing them for more seeds, but why would you want to sell them for much less then the current market value? That only screws yourself. The few companies that are selling seeds are usually located in Canada, the UK or the Netherlands, where the laws are more relaxed then here in the US, but they are still taking a risk. Plus, seed banks are businesses. Running a business is not free or easy, and neither is creating top of the line seeds.
There is definitely not a monopoly in the seed distribution industry, I think you may have mixed up your economics terms. Like the other guys said, its all about quality genetics. Seed banks like Sensi are amongst the very best and have the finest quality genetics out there. You could start your own seed business but if you are in the USA, you are absolutely nuts!
Simple economics.... Supply and Demand... Relatively few people grow and even a significantly fewer number sell high quality seeds... Short supply and high demand... Also, if people are willing to buy at what you believe is a high price, why lower the price?
think bout this 10 seeds= around 30 dollars grow em and got 6 females, u'll get SHIT LOAD of BUD!!!! so seed is cheaper then buyin bud. i would do it,
MJ seeds are a high price because it is illegal to grow, possess and sell MJ in many countries. People who sell seeds in these countries are taking a risk, and this is reflected in the price of the commodity. It is the same reason that bud is so much more expensive than tobacco. It is no more expensive to actually produce bud, but it is a black market product, and the price reflects this. Just as much work goes into producing the excellent genetics in a prize-winning strain of tomatoes. But the seeds will only ever be a tiny fraction of the price of MJ seeds.
