  2. Check out the Absolute Beginners Compendium guide you'll find mostly everything your looking for and we are all here to ask and answer questions Welcome to the GC Phont....

  3. I would say its up to you. For a beginner like yourself I might suggest organic Fox Farm Ocean Forest for Soil with organic Fox Farm Trio nutes. Then use those fabric smart pots to put your dirt in. This is very simple and much easier than doing hydroponics and will work quite well. Then later if you feel ambitious about it you can give hydroponics a try.

  4. When it comes to producing fine quality dank herb that tastes amazing, organic is the way to go. Do not be fooled, marijuana does not need to be constantly spoon fed super expensive chemical nutrients like the hydro store would like you to believe. And once you grasp the basics of organic gardening, you will find that it requires much less maintenance. No mixing up chemicals, checking ph, ppm, etc. there is also no need to flush near harvest.

When you grow organically what you essentially do is create a soil that has a living "micro herd"(beneficial soil microbes) that will break down amendments in the soil such as kelp meal or bone meal, and cycle the nutrients making them available to your plant. These microbes form a symbiotic relationship with your plant. The micro herd and humus source in your soil also has the ability to regulate the soil ph for you. You don't even need to worry about checking it ever.

Here is an example of a simple soil mix you could make very easily and relatively cheaply that would provide your plant with all it requires throughout its life, all you have to do is water.

Base- Canadian sphagnum peat moss. Add to this...
25% worm castings or compost (this is your humus source and provides microbial life)
25% aeration material such as perlite or pumice

    Add per cubic foot...

    2 cups alfalfa meal
    2 cups bone meal
    2 cups kelp meal
    1-2 cups dolomite lime
1-2 cups rock dust, granite dust, azomite, whatever mineral source.

Mix together, water, and let it sit for 2-4 weeks. This allows the soil microbes to establish themselves and begin cycling nutrients. Very important so plan ahead. Now all you need to do is water your plants. The microbes will handle the rest. Always use a chlorine free water source, chlorine is harmful to your micro herd.

In a chemical grow using bottled nutrients, your plant must constantly depend on you adding more chemical nutes because they destroy soil microbes. Without the microbes to cycle more nutrients from the soil mix, the nutrients will get used up completely and need to be replenished all the time. Bottled nutrients are a waste of money and unnecessary to grow grade A herb. And the taste of true organically grown bud is amazing.

Check out the organic section. There is tons of info in the stickies. With a bit of reading you'll discover that organic growing is pretty simple and extremely rewarding.

  5. That taste your referring to is subjective. I notice no difference between inorganic and non that goes for foods as well. Im a smoker so thats probably why.

  6. I have heard from multiple sources that synthetic nutes are not good for taste and I believe it. I don't smoke tobacco so I can really taste weed. I really think that the Fox Farm Trio nutes are a very good type of nutrient which is simple, somewhat cheap and still organic. I tend to believe that organic will taste better myself. Also, if you are growing top notch strains to begin with, then I don't see why you would want to skimp with synthetic nutes over organic.

  7. Because the yields are many times greater. Organic is not what all think it is either. Depends how you do it. Take organic foods for instance. Beloved GW Bush signed a Farm Bill towards the end of his 1st term that reclassified over 50 chemicals and synthetic additives as "organic". The agricultural industy lobbied heavily for that. So in essence for foods you have no idea if its organic or not except the labeling.

Theres all sorts of funny rules involving all of this if you look into it. People buy "free range birds" thinking that the bird lived some kind of happy life. The USDA defines this simply as a bird having access to the outside. Whats funny is many of the Free Range Birds that are sold by places like Whole Foods live in a chicken coop but the walls have holes in them to stick there head out. That meets the classification for free range.

All organic well real organic is is chemicals or additives that are naturally derived. You can use the same exact substance that is not organically derived in many cases that is man made and in chemical analysis's there EXACTLY the same with the person doing the test unable to tell the difference.

We have this wholesome feeling towards organics because its what we conjure up in our head when in many cases its a large company juicing us on our stupidity and lack of knowledge on the issue.

If you do it yourself though sure it can be organic. Ill stick to synthetic just like my foods though.

  8. I'm sorry, but I can't agree with what you have to say. The real thing is always going to be better than some synthetic imitation. As far as yield goes, I don't know what in the hell you are talking about. I'm able to pull over 4 oz per plant with organic nutes. I don't know about you, but 4 oz of weed will get me through at least 4 months if not more. If I'm already producing that much weed, I think I would rather have a quality weed rather than something which has been tainted by a synthetic chemical. Synthetic is not always the answer. Take trans fats in example. They were modified in a lab and were supposed to be soo good. Everyone said, "buy margarine, its better for you". Well, its really not better for you and people have been dying of heart disease left and right. This happened because the body does not know how to digest the synthetic chemical and thus your body does not know what to do with it so it gets stored as fat. Again, another example of why you want the real thing rather than some cheap imitation. An no, a synthetic chemical is not the same as something which is organic. Man can try to produce synthetic compounds all he wants, but it still will not stack up to the real thing.

  9. Thats fundamentally untrue. Tylenol is harmfull in large does but you can take it all year long and not die from it. Its synthetic.

The vast majority of issues regarding Heart Disease is from the diets we eat not from the use of chemicals. The vast majority of alot of disease's that happen later on in life are simply because we are living longer then any humans ever have in the history of our species. That in itself brings issues never seen before.

Cant speak for outside the US but Americans eat the worst diet imaginable. We stuff our faces with carbs, calories and sugar products like tomorrow is never going to come. Everything from diabetes to heart disease all steam fro that. If your 100 pounds over weight most likely your issues from your bad knees, back are from the massive amount of stress your fat is putting on your system as a whole not from anything else.

Were so lazy as a culture that doctors are even down to recommending just 10 minutes of walking a day. No we would rather stuff our face and watch television.

40% roughly of Americans and much higher in other parts of the world smoke Tobacco. Its not inorganic foods making the guy sick its the inhalation of a toxic substance and his lungs and bodies eventually give out.

Yes there can be sythenic and organic materials that are exactly the same. Your very ill-informed or require some science classes if you think otherwise.

But if it makes you feel warm and fuzzy and dance around the organic firepit then so be it.

  10. Whats also funny is Fox Farms is not entirely organic <gasp>. Heres from there website. Yet the ill informed fools continue to spout that they are. So if you buy there Nute trio and so many do so they can have the organic hippie glow Only Big Bloom is the other 2 are not. Good god I can feel the heart disease now. Please make it stop. Its funny to because they dare not say the word Synthetic "mineral based and time released" Key word based. A base is concoction of numerous things. Time released well its man made. OMG

  11. Your right about fox farm not being truly organic. Hence my previous post about making an organic soil mix. Stay away from the bottled nutrients. If you want to really grow organic and get the full benefits start reading in the organics section about soil mixes and soil microbes.

Ever been in a lush green old growth forest? Is someone coming in and applying fertilizers to maintain all the diverse plant life? Nope. Organic debris falls to the forest floor where microbes and fungi break it down and cycle the nutrients into the soil. By making your own soil mix your allowing the same basic process to occurr as it does naturally in nature. This has been working for millions of years why fuck it up?

And yields are not many times greater with chemical nutes. That is what is subjective. The experience of the grower is what really counts. An experienced organic grower can easily accomplish the yields of an experienced chemical grower. But the organic grower will have a hell of a lot easier of a time achieving this. Why? Read my last post.
