    Considering that dying isn't all that funny, and that George Carlin is still alive, I'd say Carlin.

    I grew up on Carlin and, in my honest opinion, he is one of the greatest comics ever to walk the planet.

    I'll always have a soft spot for Hedberg.

    I think they are each equally funny in their own way...They didn't really do similar bits or jokes...

    Of the two, it'll be Mitch. But everyone needs to watch Robin William's "Live on Broadway" HBO special. You can find it on DVD and it's worth watching. Even the Robin William hater should dig this one.

    You just named my two favorites.
    They both have their highlights...but when it comes down to it..George Fucking Carlin reigns supreme. :)
