I have been hanging out with some Dominican people and they all speak Spanish and English. I am a white kid who can speak English and basic, basic, basic Spanish. I have been hanging out at their place, and I am experiencing a language barrier for the first time. They speak Spanish around me to each other, but address me with English. I don't feel like I am being excluded per say, but I feel like a black sheep for sure. They are all real chill and we all get along, but the language barrier makes me feel a little awkward. I don't really mind, but it does get to me after a few hours. Has anyone else experienced a similar situation?
I've never experienced anything like that. Seems extreme rude IMO. It's like leaving a friend out. Understandable if you live in Mexico or something, but they can speak English so why not speak it around you when hanging out? Omega369
Not really related but I feel weird when I go to get a hair cut and the ladies speak Chinese or Vietnamese.
why not get them to teach you spainish, then you can scheme in public and no one will have a clue what your on about?
