Vast majority of it I don't like at all. When I listen to music it's 99% of the time for the music alone, lyrics are entirely secondary to me (still important, but the music is more important)... I listen to a lot of instrumental stuff too so... ya... When I hear people talking about rap they really like they're usually talking about how they love the guy's flow or way of speaking through the lyrics or w/e. For me I'd be thinking about the great harmonies and stuff like that, which really isn't the focus of rap from what I've seen. Plus I can't really relate to most of the stuff rappers are talking about. I mean, I had a pretty unusual life growing up, white middle class family living in North Africa in a huge city. There was plenty of injustice and social inequality there but it was just DIFFERENT from the situation in the States, and not really comparable. And it wasn't targeted at me most of the time since I was a westerner and the authorities go out of their way to avoid causing westerners problems cause tourism is a major industry. But ya the problems there are on a whole different level from that that rappers talk about here. I mean people are literally living in carboard boxes in shanty towns and the level of poverty is just on a totally different level. It's way, way worse.
I strongly dislike rap. I'm not going to say it's not music or it's garbage I just personally don't fancy it.

Yeah mainstream rap does, check out non phixion, jedi mind tricks, j dilla, ill bill, goretex, necro, dialated peoples, buc fifty, lmno. those are just a few..... In fact check out the book HOW TO RAP..... Many good rappers featured in there..... Hip hop still lives, this thread comes off as trolling almost, saying "rap sucks" is a bold statement.....
