This is going to be my first Hydro grow and my first grow under HID lighting. I have done a ton of research and this us what I have come up with that I think best fits me. I will try to update at least once a week. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks for reading. SET-UP 3x3x7 Grow Tent 600w MH/HPS Digilux Bulbs 2x2 Flood Table 14 GL Rubbermaid DIY Reservoir 8" Square Net Pots GROW MEDIUM Hydrotron Coco Coir NUTRIENTS GH Line up-Micro,Bloom,Florablend Superthrive Hygrozyme SEEDS 4-Seedsmen White Widow 10/7 Germinated seeds in glass of water with 1 drop Superthrive and 1 drop Hygrozyme, water was PH adjusted to 5.8. Put the glass on my heat mat in a dark place and let them sit for 5 hours. I will also use the remaining water for a foiler spray. 10/8 None of the seeds cracked while in the water. Inserted seeds point down in Rapid Rooter plugs in a small container surrounded by Hydrotron put the container on the heat mat and under the humidity dome. At this point I let them sit in the dark for 24 hours. 10/9 2 of the 4 seeds broke the surface. Plugs still moist so no watering yet. Also put the seeds under a 240watt LED and started the 18/6 cycle. 10/10 All seeds have now broke the surface. Plugs still moist but I did start a foiler spray every few hours. 10/11 10/12 I was not paying attention and my plugs pretty much dried out and two of my seedinlings were laying over luckily I was home from work and caught it quick. I mixed up a gallon of a mild nute solution 4ml Bloom, 2ml Micro, 1ml Superthrive and 1 ml Hygrozyme. Adjusted the PH to 5.8 and gave each seedling about 5ml of the solution and 3 hours later the 2 seedlings sprang back up. 10/13-10/16 Nothing eventful happening growth seems sort of slow so far. Continued to keep the plugs moist with the nute solution I mixed up and misting them every so often. 10/17 After finishing some last minute changes on my main grow tent I decided to transplant the seedlings into their permanent homes. Each seedling went into an 8" Net pot filled with 75% Coco/25% Hydrotron. The spaces in the flood table between the net pots are filled with Hydrtron. The lighting is 600w MH. Gave the seedlings a decent watering with the mild nute solution and off they go. This will eventually become my mother tent its 3x3x5.
10/20 Getting ready to fill my res for the first time and start the water cycle. To fill and drain my table takes about 5 minutes. Im thinking to start, I will flood every 4 hours starting an hour after lights on and the last flood would be 3 hours before lights off. Is it ok if my Coco never dry's out between floods?
10/23 Today was the first day of flooding on the timer. I have it set to flood at 9am,1pm,5pm,9pm,1am for now. It takes about 2 minutes to fill my table and 3 more to drain completely. Reservoir -10 Gallons Tap (225ppm) -20 ML Hygrozyme -20 ML Superthrive -25 ML GH Micro -50 ML GH Bloom -120 ML GH FloraBlend PPM's after nutes 565 Adjusted PH to 5.8 but it seems to have floated back up to 6.0 since this morning. I will adjust again before the 9pm feeding. Anyone have any ideas on why my PH is rising? I also noticed that my res has a yellowish/brownish foam starting to form if nyne has any ideas on that it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading.
Just looks like lots of bubbles IMO I would also tape up the res I'm on the fence on weather it's light proof?? Edit: other that my 2 cents this grow looks cool as shit bro sorry it took so long to edit, I've been zoned out with cartoons and weed
Yeah I think your right about the bubbles...I think this container is light proof but might as well tape it up and be sure.
oxygen surely wont be a problem, i do the same thing though bro. i put 4 small air stones in each bucket wit their own pump lol
10/25 Just a pic I took today nothing new to report but they do seem to be moving along now. Take a look at the weird growth on this one. Anyone have any ideas what's causing it?
probably jsut genes bro or a different pheno gone haywire. it should fix its self. that bottom right plant is guranteed to be a short stout bush she is already looking great. they all look good man, congrats, the tough part is over lol. i hate germination
Yeah I figured they will grow out of it and they are starting to look better now. My new issue is my ph and ppm are rising. I figure the PPM's are going up because the plants are drinking more than eating but I cant figure out why the PH is going up .8-1.0 a day...
May be the shit in the dirt. Don't know why you added dirt.... Most E&F use hydroton, but I'm far from a expert on E&F or anything else for that matter. When I brew my Heisenburg tea, it looks like soap powers in the bucket it foams so much and my res turns a bit dark from the tea but the roots are white and hairy.
Its coco not soil...My res looks good and my res temps are fine at 68-70. Im thinking either I did not wash the hydrotron enough or its just a normal rise as the system settles. In any case I'm just adjusting once in the morning and that seems to keep it range for the day.
Quick pic update...They seem to be moving along well now. Check this out see the yellow spots with holes. I had some flying critters in the tent early on that were chilling on my seedlings apparently having a snack. I killed the ones off I could see by hand and have not seen anymore. I put down some whitefly traps yesterday but they are still clean. Hopefully I caught it early and this wont affect the long term health of this grow. Anyone ever grow the seedsmen white widow?
Well then the Hygrozyme is probably what is foaming up. I don't use it, it's to expensive for me, but I think it's beneficial bacteria so something along those lines. The bennies will foam up when they are healty I think. Search for Heisenburg Tea, cheap, easy and 30 bucks will last 30 grows at least. And that shit works too. Zoome turned me onto it, I don't some research and will not clone or grow without it. Cuts ur nutes down too, U don't need as much.
10/30 Things are moving along nicely my PH is fluctuating a bit more than I would like but other than that all is well. I'm thinking I want to try and scrog this grow so I'm wondering if I should top or not? The biggest of the girls is just starting to grow her 5th set of leaves and looks about ready to be topped the others are all very close behind. I'm also going to be doing a nute change in the next couple days and I will bring the nute strength up to 3/4 of full strength. Biggest of the 4 that I plan on topping in the next couple days
Looks nice bro! You should ask around, I'm thinking its the coco making your ph swing, I could be wrong though. Anyway plants look great and that front right plant is deffinately going to be a big ass bush!
Looking good bro. How old are they now? Mine are just over a week And im getting ready for first flood. Im thinking no nutes quite yet. Just ph balanced water as i think im going to just spray them for right now.
