White Tipped Buds

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by Deviaant, Mar 18, 2021.

  1. The first pic is not my bud but it's a non gross purple pic. The purple pic is my grow, I'm right at the end so I did not want to mess with anything this late into it.

I have a fair amount of these white buds growing. You can see some glowing white in the purple pic. What the heck causes this? Am I doing something wrong? The rest of the plant looks awesome.

  2. Probably light burn. Is it only the stuff closest to the light?

  3. No, that's the odd part. It's happening at a couple different heights. I will post a couple of followup pictures when I harvest them.

It's like the tips are growing without chlorophyll but otherwise they are really healthy. And it's just the tip of some colas, nowhere else.

  4. nute burn and will get worse ..????

best to post a normal pic so your questions can be answered

    good luck

  5. These are just a couple. The hairs are super fence, trichomes do look really really thick.

I'd say these are maybe 1" in size, other than the odd color everything is fine. These were also taken from different heights in my tent. I'm about 1.5 weeks out from starting my flush, I'll snip a little and see what's going on under a loupe then.[IMG][IMG]

  6. Well this is a new one for me, but according to that article, what you have is a good thing. Higher potency!
If it were my plant, I would just ride it out.
    Good luck!

  7. I'm not so sure. I'm in the last week's of flower and begin a flush in about 1.5 weeks so I've already began tapering down the nutes. I most certainly could be wrong though.

Plus this is the only location on the plant where this is happening. (Top of a cola) if it were nite burn you would see signs on other parts of the plant too?

  10. Oh yeah my phone is more or less a potato. Sorry about the poor quality pics.

I think it was being bleached by the light. I have a very strong 1000w led and as soon as I adjusted the light the bleaching has more or less stopped now. I looked at the trichomes on the white tips and they are covered in them, I'd say moreso than the rest of the plant.

I am a week out from starting my flush I'm hoping anyhow. I'm going to wait till I get some more cloudy trichomes (60-70%) then begin a week - two week flush. Regardless of how the bud looks I'm kinda excited to smoke albino bud though.

  11. I think my led (Kind XL 1000) was bleaching the tips. It was only happening on one strain, so I'm guessing that strain is a bit more light sensitive than the others. That's why not all the tall colas had the white tips.

I moved my light up as far as I can (about 1.5' off of canopy) doing that seems to have stopped/slowed the bleaching. I'm maybe 2-3 weeks away from chopping them down anyhow so I'm not too worried.
