I found the answer It's called "efflorescence", a white powdery substance that forms on rock, mainly brickwork. It is caused by the evaporation of water containing process "salts" which are left on the surface of the clay balls. It won't do any harm. Just wash it off every now and then, it doesn't matter if it goes into your fish tank, a bit of salt doesn't hurt anything. Mhm I worried when I saw it happening to mine. Then realised just salts and was very relieved lol. (Happens in soil also)
