White flies problems in 6th week flowering. Best solution?

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by humbleboy, Mar 28, 2016.

  1. Hi guys,

Been battling a white fly problem for most of the grow. I have 9 plants. I thought I had it under control after I used neem oil spray for a few weeks before I switched it to the flowering stage.

But now, in the 6th week of flowering, they are slowly coming back. I put a bunch of yellow stickers around, in the 3rd week of flowering and they seem to be getting lots of them in the last few weeks, but now it seems they are coming back a little bit more in force in the 6th week now of flowering.

The plants leaves look more or less pretty green and the buds are fattening up, but I see those fucking white fly eggs around on them....

Should I just grind it out the last 2-3 weeks and put more stickies? Or is it okay to spray them again with neem oil even though they are in their 6th week of flowering (I heard and read from some places it is not good to spray them with neem oil in their flowering stage)?

    Thanks for the help!

  2. Def dont spray them. If you so choose to smoke that egged out bud, it will taste like neem.

To battle any pest means to get in tune with their reproductive cycle. You spray with neem and kill the adults, but the eggs hatch, fuck, lay more eggs that hatch, fuck etc. These are the "waves" you speak of.

You should hit them once, then again a few days later, and again a few days later to make sure the eggs that were left behind in the first spray dont get a chance to reproduce once they hatch.

If it were me and i had two weeks of flower left with fly eggs in my buds and no way to really fight them, id figure out how to come to terms with the fact that im not smoking that bud. Then id find a way to get those tricomes off the bud in some other form and take the small victory.

More sticky traps but other than that, the damage is kinda already done man sorry to say

  3. Throw some mosquito dunks in your watering jugs

  4. White flies are much harder to get rid of than fungus gnats. Lotsa good stuff on the web, but they have to be treated on multiple fronts.

  5. TonyStark,

It's not as bad as you make it out to be...the buds are looking beautiful and fat and I don't even see the flies or the eggs on the actual buds, just around the outer fan leaves....its not a crazy crazy infestation, but they are there....also you do not provide any recommendations or advice on what to do NOW. Except give up on my 9 plants, which I WILL ABSOLUTELY NOT DO. Thanks Tony

  6. Mook,

Everything on the web only talks about dealing with them and fighting with them in veggie stage. I am in 6th week of flowering and am trying to find if there is any technique on how to deal with them now in the last 2-3 weeks of flowering...thanks

  7. Not sure if I have them where I live in the world...thanks.

  9. I would love to help brother, but those I have never needed to contend with. ✊

You can use yellow sticky sheets to trap adults and hope they run their course. You could fog with pyrethrin but as you said, in flowering this doesn't sound great.

  10. How big is your grow area?
You may want try fogging with Essential Oils. I've had absolutely no problems with doing this during flowering and has killed almost all of the pests and made my life growing area a lot more friendly.
The link is in my sig.
    Best of luck to you.
