Not really. It depends on the medal. A gold medal in basketball isn't nearly as hard as a championship in the NBA.

Pro sports. If you're good as fuck a pro sports league will swoop you up and make you sign a contract to prevent you from competing in the Olympics (to prevent potential injuries during training/competition). As sad as it is, pro sport leagues (in the US anyway) are always higher priority than things like the Olympics.
Depends on the sport. I would rather win a world cup than an olympic gold medal.
True it all depends on the sport
I'd take a World Cup over anything. World Cup > Olympics and it's not even close in my opinion. The olympics are kind of boring.
the question you're asking is would you rather be the best in the US, or the best in the world? I'd take best in the world.
You really need to ask? Gold medal hands down. 25 grand, worldwide TV coverage, homeland pride, and sponsorships and endless business deals? Cmon man, no other sports competition can offer that as a prize.
^ From '07-09 Kimi Raikkonen made $51 million a year racing for Ferrari in F1 on five continents.
Thats cool, but most people on earth has ever heard of em. Did you guys forget that when you win a gold medal, shit man, even a bronze, in the Olympics they still talk about ya when Your long gone? In every other sport you gotta be a legend or close to it to be greatly remembered...
