I want to grow this summer. Probably buying from Attitude. What should I get? I wanted to try two kinds, one Indica (for a friend who has headaches) and one Sativa (for me because I love to get stoned). I will be growing outdoors (because growing indoors seems very complicated and my family would prefer me to grow outside). What strain will be the easiest to grow? I skimmed through the sticky guide about growing outdoors and it was overwhelming. Are there any strains of weed that are extremely resilient and grow like actual weeds? From the outdoor growing guide it seems like marijuana is the most pathetic plant in the world that needs 24/7 human intervention to stay alive. Any advise will be preciously valued. Thanks in advance.
In case anyone was curious, I went with Homegrown Fantaseeds Outdoor Mix. It says it is a mix of outdoor strains but mostly ones that are very resilient and require little maintenance. Here is the link for more info: Homegrown Fantaseeds Outdoor Mix I also chose it because it was very inexpensive and I don't want to waste a ton of money since it is my first time and I am not planning on following the strictest of outdoor growing guidelines. I have a spot in my back yard that I think will be safe to plant without neighbors being annoying. It sucks that our fences are 3 feet tall. Fortunately we have some plants and trees blocking our views of each other and creating an illusion of privacy. I have several different neighbor's yards adjacent to mine. In the back of my yard and to the side is an apartment so I am definitely going to try to hide the plants from their view because several people could look out the apartment windows and see the plants. I am planning to place some other plants around the marijuana such as tomato plants or other tall plants to disguise it better. My one concern is that the area does not get a ton of sunlight (the description of the seeds says they can survive in shadier areas, which is a little vague). I was outside from 11 AM til around 5 PM today and it had almost continuous sunlight but it was partial (leaves from very tall maple trees were blocking parts so it wasn't pure sunlight). Around 11 AM it had almost perfect direct sunlight though for an hour or so. There is a building that probably blocks the sunlight earlier in the day but I did not check for sure. Another problem with my growing area is that the weeds were completely out of control as of earlier today. I had let them grow since I moved here 12 years ago. Today I decided to start hacking it all up. The vines are all over the back fence and there are 3 inch thick hairy vines completely entangled in the fence. I got branch cutters and started hacking it up and I put the branches and vines in a pile. The major problem is that vines are all over the ground in a tangled mess just below the soil surface. I am planning on getting and axe and just hacking the ground repeatedly and chopping all that garbage up. I will also get a shovel and a rake. All I need is another helper, and a sifting blanket so I can shovel scoops of dirt onto it and the soil will fall straight to the ground and the vines will get trapped in the blanket and we can toss them aside. This is just a fantasy and is probably not going to happen. I will have to remove this overwhelming tangled mess via just an axe, shovel, and bare hands. We have a mulch pile so I could just get ride of the soil and put better soil in its place! Any encouragements and advice would be cherished. Thanks. If my seeds arrive in two weeks I hope the soil will be much friendlier for the marijuana. I don't want any weeds competing with my weed.
read the outdoor grow guide in the outdoor section! its amazing. get this weed rake thing from home depot, drag it across the ground and it cuts like 2 inches under the surface, then just rake it all into a big pile. dig some 1' by 1' holes and mix some outdoor soil with it at like 50% store bought soil 50% of the soil that's already there. be careful to get rid of the males. or just kill all but one, and polinate a little part of one of your females. Not sure exactly how this is done, but i'm sure there are guides. I think u take the male right before it release its pollen, and just rub one of your females buds with it, then its pollinated.
Find out what latitude you are on since it is no good buying tropical sativas when you live near the artic circle. Your best bet is to get some Nordic strains that will finish by sep at the latest. Lots of seedbanks have strains that will finish by this time. You just have to find one. Dont bother reading the manufacturers specs on em as they are wrong most of the time, e.g. GHS AMS is said to finish by sep but mine did not even start flowering until halfway through sep and i am at a lower lat than holland where they are made. Some names to read on Guerilla Gold or any crosses with GG in it. Mendecino Madness Mighty Mite Freezland or any mix with either MM or freezland. Anything that ESBE (N) makes will finish in that time. HTC Hill Temple Collective Just a few to get you going. Good luck
