for small to medium rips, that is. I can't make up my mind, and Been reading for hours and no real good consensus. I'm planning on using my HVY aschcatcher as well, so I should have plenty of diffusion. I've read the regular 60mm V2 has more bubble action than the king, but the king's stem and bore is larger. dammit, I'm so confused... http://grasscity.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/thumbnail/5e06319eda06f020e43594a9c230972d/a/l/alt_12-21-10-8.jpg or http://grasscity.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/thumbnail/5e06319eda06f020e43594a9c230972d/a/l/alt-11-11-10-1.jpg
ya the v2 has 6 lines of 7 grids for a total of 42 grids i believe. the king has 9 lines of 15 grids for like around 150 grids, it's gnarly.
I'll have to be contrary and say that the skinner the stemline, the smoother the hit. If you watch the kings they barely stack at all during the actual hit. The 60mm and even moreso the 50mm tubes create a pillar of bubbles similar to a SYN showercap. More height=more time for water-smoke interaction. The same reason the gridding helps with the smoothness, smaller bubbles=more surface area for interaction.
yes, I've been hearing this as well. also, with an ashcatcher to start things up, I think the V2 will be a better fit...no?
its the same amount of time because theres the same amount of surface area, but the v2 it tall and the king is wide, so theyre pretty much equal on the time arguement but the king has almost 2x the inital diffusion
the king is a huge hit, and if you're matching it with an ashcatcher the hits may be too big for some of your friends to hit and the pipe could just end up being a nice display piece. So I say go with the V2
Sorry I missed that your taking small to medium rips, the V2 should be a perfect fit then. The only reason I would go with the King is for volume.
Yeah I have the 50mm V2 and when milked it delivers a pretty sizable hit. Definitely plenty of volume unless you're obsessed with taking massive rips.
ok, sounds like the V2 will be a better choice. so here is the ashcatcher I have: http://grasscity.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/thumbnail/5e06319eda06f020e43594a9c230972d/A/Q/AQL-100121-11.jpg a friend who is somewhat of an "elitist" on glass, said that the V2 (or the king for that matter) would not fit with the ashcatcher above, but I dont get it! They are both 18mm, so how could it not fit?
Take a look at the angle. Yours has a 45 degree angle but you need a 90 degree to fit with the stemline.
oh crap, you are right! is there an adapter of some sort I can use, or not worry about it and just not use the ashcatcher? perhaps this: http://grasscity.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/thumbnail/5e06319eda06f020e43594a9c230972d/a/l/alt_10-22-10-155.jpg
it would fit, the problem that i think he is referring to is the fact that your ashcatcher has a 45 degree slide while the Stemlines have vertical stems soo the ac would not really diffuse optimally aswell as funky bowl positioning. hope it helps,, Masta P Edit: err a little late xD
Exactly, you could try to find an adapter to make your A/C work but a 90* A/C is really what is needed if you really want one. You may find out that you won't need it at all though.
You can get a 18mm to 18mm 45 degree angle adapter on ALT for $16 and they will cancel each other out and leave your stuff level. I would advise this just because you already have a nice ash catcher and I hate spending 150 bucks on a clear glass accessory personally.
you mean this one, right? http://grasscity.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/thumbnail/5e06319eda06f020e43594a9c230972d/a/l/alt_10-22-10-155.jpg will that be tacky, or will it be fine? or should I just get something else altogether? I hate to have a $130 aschcatcher just sitting in the garage collecting dust!
